2009 SANFL Jumpers

Postby BL&G_Ump » Fri Mar 13, 2009 12:40 pm

Overall the SANFL jumpers for 2009 have remained the same, however it has come to my attention for the first time that the amount of sponsorship seen on the jumpers is more than usual at this level. I know that most SANFL clubs are experiencing financial difficulties which sponsors can ably assist, however, it looks absolutely terrible!!!

For example, the Sturt guernsey is dominated by frontal advertising, detracting from the presence of the 'SFC' logo. On the other hand, the Norwood guernsey retains simplicity and still has advertising.

are Sturt wearing a different jumper this season than the one from last weekends trial against South, because it didn't look too different advertising-wise in the photos...

If they are, can you point us to pictures of the new jumper?

I reckon the Sturt guernsey has looked worse. The "Sanctuary Cove" patch in the early/mid-nineties was quite gaudy and really dominated the guernsey. I don't think anything they've had since has been quite as visually bad as this.

On that note I (and many others) quite like the current Glenelg guernsey. Having the sponsor's name in black lettering on the sash doesn't assault the senses as much as a big white patch in the middle of the guernsey.

East Perth's is the worst I've seen for over the top advertising. Trying to find a pic from a couple of years ago, it was even messier than this.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

As far as i know they are the same. Can't think of any change in sponsors. Guernsey pres is on 23rd March so i'll let you know more then. Are the doggies coming up with a new guernsey? I remember seeing something with a Bulldog on the front on this forum a while back.
Thanks for the mention of the pic. You can find them all on sturtcheersquad.com

The more advertising material slashed over the Sturt jumper the better.
Only my opinion but the Sturt jumper is the worst jumper in Australia.....powder blue ?...ffs !
Powder blue looks OK on a netball uniform not a football uniform.

Those Centrals jumpers on the forum last year I liked...again just a personal opinion.

It ain't so bad. If Sturt really wanted something that screamed "I was taken from a homosexual's wardrobe" they'd have worn teal blue.

I would like to see us go back to dark blue shorts at home games and for the colour of the guernsey to stay the same year by year.
Gotta love the old school guernseys from any team for example http://www.sturtcheersquad.com/apps/pho ... d=16507092

Dead on mate, it looked shocking and the Bulldogs clash/away will remain the inverse which was introduced last year. Any other major changes people know of?

The guernsey you're referring to is a training guernsey. No change to Centrals guernsey's this year.

North's terrible new away guernseys, they actually look better in pics as at the game unless you're within 5 metres of the player it just looks like a blob on their guernsey.

If your club is going to play in THAT JUMPER the SANFL should not have umpires in all WHITE.Well one goal umpire in the seconds was in orange ;) must have spilled his fanta all over his top.

Of course we're going to play in that jumper because our normal red guernseys look so similar to the Eagles yellow guernseys that we had to do something to make sure they clash.

If we wear yellow then why do we sing GOLD in our song? Cause it's Eagle GOLD.
