Callington are in lots of trouble. As predicted by many, they will field only one senior side this year.

good first hit out by the southern blues. good number out and will be very competitive again this year. didnt look like they were missing too much after the exodus to smeltville.

the younger mahomet and both stringers are looking in fine form and solid performances from liverton, pinkerton and ewens. the boys from strath look like they might have the goods also. can confirm that paul eustace has done his knee again.

interestingly stringer looks set to unleash a new weapon into the midfield this season..

Not sure if the League are aware of this as yet. Owen (Sherrin) did say on this forum a while back that Callington could field just one Senior side if the worst happened. Presumably Callington would realise the urgency of letting the League know as asap. I believe they are okay for Junior sides, but indicated early on they would not field U17's, though I could be wrong on that one. If this is what it takes to keep them afloat, let's hope it works for them.

Would be a nightmare on Match Days though, with a huge gap between Juniors and A's

Very hard for Callington to attract players because of the location and the size of the town. half way between Mt Barker and Murray Bridge and a very small population to draw on in my opinion makes them start behind the 8 ball to start with. I hope they can stick it out and build the club up to be successful.

Gee the list goes on now with dave prescott also leaving kangy, thats a lot of players that have left now, couldnt be good for any club. The new weapon wouldnt be russell scott from edwardstown would it now???? havent seen a clearance gone through yet 4 him.

Did Nairne have a trial against Mitcham friday night? If so, how did it go?

Good hit out for both teams A's and B's in 3 quarter (thirds?) games. Mitcham by about a goal in the A's, but a good first hit out given the limited time out on the ground.

Nairne looked to have some very good midfield inclusions getting plenty of the ball but may perhaps need some height. Their CHF looked pretty solid and should provide a great target up forward for the year.

Was a good contest and wish them best of luck for the year.

Round 1 Tips - Getting in Early only 3 Weeks to Go!
Gumeracha Vs Macclesfield - Maccy by 10 Goals - Both Sides seem to have picked up some number since last season but Maccy seem to have the quality of players behind them
Nairne Vs Torrens Valley - Hmm hard one. Torrens Valley by 10 Goals +, 1st real games together for the lions maybe scratchy who knows (anyone know how their trial games are going?) Will be interesting seeing hold all the old Port Magpies Boys handle the hills conditions.
Kangy Vs Callington - Kangy by 15 goals + depending who and if Callington Show up.
Echunga Vs Meadows - Echunga by 10 Goals + Basically a whole new Team for Echunga this season, Quality pick ups all around the ground, Meadows will improve from last year, but Echunga will be too quick on a big ground.
