MY enduring memory of the SAJC is the embarrassment, as a young, anonymous footballer, of being denied entry to the Members' stand. The image of stultifying snobbishness has never left me.

1. Try paying for membership like the rest of us have to do GC
2. Stupid snobbery because they pay their way and you think you are king of the world and shouldn't have to. You have your own snobbery traits that are, unfortunately, thrust upon us through the media
3. By saying that you were, at the time, a young, anonymous footballer, suggests that you think that you would have been admitted once you gained your "personality" status.

I remember the days when you had to be a member to get into any SANFL club's grandstand too. Even the clubrooms. Not sure why he thought the SAJC's stand should be anything different.

Wasn't that an atrocious article without any factual basis to it. It boiled down to the following:
-Cornes' belief that the SAJC is a snobbish organisation. Apparently it didn't help that once he was denied accesss to the members stand. Graham himself is a member of a very restictive private golf club, try getting to play there.
-Steve Ploubidis is a good bloke he has hardly met but who speaks well in public. Therefore, hard to think he is guilty of any impropriety. The logic is obvious i guess.
-Steve Ploubidis is of Greek heritage and has been done in by an Anglo Saxon establishment. Logical again, especially seeing he made it to the CEO position in the first place being a Greek.

and Graham gets paid for that rubbish.

I was going to ask him: If you went to Next Gen, where you are a member, and couldn't get a machine because of free loading footballers, how long would it take you to bag the club? Then again, with all of the photos of your family up on the wall endorsing it, I suggest you dont pay for it anyway.

You miss the point. I don't mind reading material that i don't agree with. Sometimes you learn more from people who look at things at a different angle that you do. Opinion pieces often will be like that by their nature.

But if i believe an article is trite rubbish then i am allowed to say so, and if he's going to comment on important issues at least have some substance behind it. Besides, the Cornes article only took a few minutes to read, and occupied only a tiny section of the paper. Be a different story if the paper was full of such articles, in which case i obviously wouldn't bother buying the paper in the first instance.

Not missing the point at all, and I agree with your comments but.........you can still buy the paper but what is it you look for in an article? Normally something news worthy and also controversial, I wonder why! To enable you to form and give an opinion.
It is in most peoples nature to 'ark up' at something they disagree with so if the content of Cornesy & Caro's articles don't suit, don't read them. I refuse to read Caroline Wilson's articles purely because I think they are primarily full of crap.

Because curiosity killed more than just the cat, people will read them just to give them something to disagree with!

Never ever feel sorry for a Cornes- one look at their smug faces will wipe away any sympathy (although I will exclude the ill health of Kane's daughter from this, but Kane seems to be more humble than the rest of them.)

It's actually his son! He was born with a heart defect, I think his name is Eddie, named after Mr Maguire.
