Reminded me of Redknapps comments right after we stuffed them 3 - 0 in the league cup.

Put it down ingracious.

Well I can't knock ya mate, coz I never saw that coming either .. HAd a feeling in the water, but still thought we'd get done ... Dont think we've lost to any of the top 5 teams this year, how can we not beat those that are struggling??? :(

Liverpool played well but having said that Man U I didn't think played all that bad certainly better than the 4-1 scoreline. Was the worst I've seen Vidic play Torres had the upper hand all match. Don't know what Evra was thinking when bringing down Stevie G in the box bloody stupid as for Vidic red card I think he had to do something. I just hope we don't draw Liverpool on Friday in the Champions league draw. Was good for Manchester to get a little wake up call.

I don't reckon Evra actually kew Steve G was there until he turned to play the ball ... Agreed on Vidic, not his best day, and while he had to get a 2nd Yellow, he had no chance but to stop Gerard by whatever means necessary.

I don't reckon Man U will lose another game all season now but I get the feeling that if you do, Chelsea could be your concern ... Essien's back and they look pretty united under Guus and still have a squad brimful of immense talent.

Plus there have been reports that your buddy Lucas has been looking around for a new club to gain more 1st team football. Perhaps the Botswana national league may have a side that could accommodate him. What does Dunga see in this guy?

Buy-buy Rafa: Sir Alex says that Benitez is just a chequebook boss

Rafa Benitez and Sir Alex Ferguson were at loggerheads again yesterday after the Liverpool manager reacted furiously to taunts about his transfer spending.

Ferguson reignited his war of words with Benitez by inferring his bitter Anfield rival was a chequebook manager and claiming he had comfortably outspent Manchester United over the past five years.

On a day when the Champions League draw set up the possibility of a United-Liverpool final, the Old Trafford boss, reflecting on Benitez signing a new deal, said: ‘You’ll see Rafa produce an incredible spending spree — that’s absolutely certain, now the contract is done. They talk of a recession, but there won’t be one at Liverpool. He’s well ahead of us in spending over the last five years and that will continue. You can expect a big spending splurge at Liverpool. That’s his way.

RAFA recently brought up his 100th win for Liverpool.

He did it in 50 fewer games than Sir Alex.

Not bad for a chequebook manager.

MAN USA:

Berbatov - >30m
Ferdinand - 30m
Evra - 6m
Vidic - 7m
Nani - 15m
Anderson - 18m
Carrick - 19m
Park - 4m
Rooneh - 26m
Ronaldo - 12m
Hargreaves - 17m
Van Der Sar - 2m

Homegrown: Scholes, Giggs, Neville, Brown.

Total 166m

LIVERPOOL:

Dossena - ???
Hyypia - 3m
Agger - 6m
Torres - 25m
Riera - 8m
Aurelio - Free???
Alonso - 11m
Benayoun - 5m
Arbeloa - 3m
Kuyt - 10m
Babel - 12m
Mascherano - 19m
Lucas - ????? Hopefully a pittance
N'Gog - 2m
Reina - ????
Skrtl - 7m

Homegrown: Gerrard, Carra

Total 111m

So, even with the undisclosed buys at Liverpool, Man USA's first team have cost so much more than Liverpool's it's ridiculous for Red Nose to even mention this trip. It just makes the loss to Liverpool last week even more embarrassing.

So Red Nose, perhaps zip it until you start winning again.

Dont tell me fergies has found another excuse on the liverpool loss? wonder what he will say was wrong about the loss to fulham. maybe not enough water in the river Thames? or too many hot coffees drunk the night before? im sure he will think of some excuse. Reason i like rafa, and houllier before him, they tend not to blame losses on refs or bad decisions. Most of the time they say we were beaten by the better side.

Fergie didnt look to impressed towards the end of the game. I think that the sending off of rooney was a little harsh. The way i saw it i thought he was throwing the ball back to his player to take a quick free kick.

Best player in the world at the moment DA.
Doesn't go missing in the big games like ronaldo.
Always performs no matter what the occasion.
The last goal which Friedel got sent off, the ref got it right to the letter of the law, but at 4-0 down could he hand a yellow and say " look son don't do it again" ?

Agree with all of that.

Stevie G would surely take the PFA Player of the year award if it was handed out now.

Had to feel for Villa, they didn't deserve to be as far behind early, yet amazingly they could have lost by more in the end .. Odd game!

Not sure whether the Reds will be able to sustain this form, but they've certainly shown they can match it with anyone when they play to their best (and play near enough to our best 11) ... As good as SG was last night I thought Reina was MOTM.
