Exactly. I also agree with whoever said it will make it alot harder for clubs to take the step between grades.

I'll reserve judgement at this stage, but could be a good positive to force clubs to develop their juniors and make junior/senior committees work together for overall good of club instead as separate entities jealously guarding their monies.
Downside will be for clubs without juniors.

So what if my two mates from another league decide to play with me next year and at the same time one of our players' brother from a much higher division decides the same thing...Only we have to refuse one or two of them because they are collectively worth too many points? Why should we be punished for this?

You're mates will be worth 1 point each, grading in SAAFL wont alter, that is for ex SANFL/AFL players primarily or Interstate players from VFL

Lucky Broadies have done it this year. They'd rack up more points than a Geelong GF team playing the Power with the team they've put together this year

Yep, I see Ace. This probably won't have great bearing on lower division clubs, but force those in higher divisions to be crafty about where they source their recruits from.

would there be a club or individual team points tally?
would it count how much time has elapsed between juniors and seniors? and how many clubs?
is it points and salary cap system or just points?

uni would be stuffed given that we have plenty of players coming from interstate and from the country for specific study reasons - would non-football related moves be taken into account?

seems to be a bit of a knee jerk reaction to me.

might be worth checking out the Hills and GSFL on this one, they both have implemented what appear to be different points systems.
Has lead to a fair bit of discussion on the GSFL forum

Just shows going to a Uni College can't make up for a poor education

And college sides do have juniors - it's called a school, and we get credits for their participation in school football

I thought everyone from colleges did law degrees, spelling would be a pre-requisite for law wouldn't it?

Anyways, Jimmy the point about college juniors counting as part of the club's system will be interesting as often school footballers play for clubs in holidays. Who gets the points then?

And the league doesn't have the school records, who's to say I didn't go to St Peters or PAC instead of public school in the north? ;)

The league doesn't need it. If it got split into zones (eg if the CDFA came back) then I'd be all for it, but the comps are even enough as it is, that's what promotion/relegation does.

Obviously not.

Not sure about that one - good point. I've never played under the system but I would suggest; both.

Points only! The number I've heard is 25 points for A1 clubs. Time lapse is non existent, if you played juniors and left to go to a league club at 15 years old and came back to your original club at 25 you would be zero points even if you've played 50 SANFL games.
If you play at 2 junior clubs, the club you last played for as a junior becomes the club that zero points apply to.

As an example: Ricciuto was no points for Waikerie. Handy pick-up for no points!

Correct weight so play on.

An example of the 2 junior clubs situation is that Adam Heuskes played at TTG firstly and then Gepps Cross as a junior. He was drafted from Gepps Cross so would be worth zero if and when he came back to Gepps but worth 5 points if he went back to TTG.
