To repeat what I've said before (and been howled down by the revisionists) I didn't initially dislike the Power. In fact I would have loosely classed myself as a 'supporter' - even had a sticker on my car, right next to a Sturt sticker! This was mainly due to a stronger dislike of the Crows but also because initially they were marketed as a very separate identity to the Magpies but one that nevertheless drew on traditional club values rather than those of a corporate identity. It didn't hurt that Sturt players have always been well represented too.

Gradually over time, in one of the most ill-conceived marketing strategies of all time, they have desperately clawed back (some would say 'stolen') the heritage from the Magpies (the reclaiming of the creed being the final straw for me) and like many, many other fence-sitting fans I have given them up due to an inbuilt hatred of anything black and white. Not penguins though, they're cool.

Hatred of another footy club is the sign of a loser or a dumbass (who've odds on never kicked a footy before)
I've had a lifelong dislike towards PAFC (Maggies) mainly coz of their sucess against the MIGHTY BAYS in premierships & the odd run in with dickhead supporters...
But let's face it, EVERY club has dickhead supporters!
Some more than most (ie. Collingwood)
Give respect where it is due!

The bottom line is...
Never mind that 'Follow the Creed' palaver... Port Magpies & the Power are two completely different entitys!
GO THE GROWL!!!

I'll treat your question seriously, from my perspective.
It has its roots in the 1950s and 1960s when Port Adelaide won games by leaving only 17 opposition players standing - there were only 2 reserves to be used so 3 serious injuries achieved that.
Then there was Port's treachery in attempting to join the VFL behind everone's back, and forcing the forming of an alternative team to the detriment of the whole SANFL and the player retention scheme.
Then there was them getting the 2nd licence as a perverse reward for that behaviour!
Then there came the "Teal"...

All that being so, I don't dislike the Power, but I do the coaching style they suffer - going defensive everytime they get in front and then getting run over - except that one year they didn't do it..
I do dislike, intensely, the SANFL Magpies since they claim the mantle of their brutish past, and thus inherit my distaste for the old Port Adelaide.

I love port, especially when it's been aged in oak and has a touch of brandy in with it.
I have a barrel that I mix my own in, great stuff but can't drink too much or you'll see me asking questions on this forum under the heading; "what do I do when I have gout?"

Port's also good when its cold, nothing like a nip of port when it's about 5 degrees.

I do like 2 ports the drink and the magpies.

I just extremely hate the Power for many reasons
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

I dislike Port Magpies as amount of losing GF's to them and the fact they were the team to beat when I was younger. As for Power I dont mind them, well prefer them over Cows. Only reason would dislike them is 2004 GF and listening to club song all the way home from Melbourne to Adelaide on drive back home (asshole Port supporters rubbing it in all way).
