Hoons in hot cars

Postby aceman » Sun Mar 29, 2009 12:00 pm

How long before govt. or someone takes the radical step of not allowing "hotted up vehicles" to be purchased by young drivers?
Just looking at the Advertiser & Sunday Mail this week should be enough to get the decision makers of this state to shudder with guilt when you see phots of two vehicles that are sheared in half during a drag race.
Take the option to purchase and drive those vehicles off the agenda for people under the age of 35, you never know, it may save a life or two and the heartbreak that this causes families.
I would certainly be in favour of it!

I reckon I heard somewhere that the driver of the WRX didn't have a licence so I think it's a losing battle unfortunately. He's killed himself and maimed others, something his family must live with for the rest of their lives, is that fair on them? Maybe if they were aware he didn't have a licence, then perhaps it is.
Everyone has a responsibility in an instance such as this, it's one of the realities of life.

A shocking state of affairs.

How shocking was it to pick up the Sundaymail today.

My heart goes out to the families involved.

Not to mention all the poor emergency staff that had to sift through the damage.

And the police who have to knock on doors to inform the families.

You never recover from this trauma..!

‘zipzap’ are you aware of the Geneva Conventions that apply in non-international conflicts ?

Common Article 3 clearly states :

Noncombatants, combatants who have laid down their arms, and combatants who are hors de combat
(out of the fight) due to wounds, detention, or any other cause shall in all circumstances be treated humanely,
including prohibition of outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment.

Your statement leaves you at risk of being charged with crimes against humanity !
You can’t say you haven’t been warned. There was a well known advertising campaign
explaining why so many Barinas (mostly blue) had been abandoned outside every
‘Sip n Save’ in the world !

Correct. Besides a "little" car can still hit speeds of over 120/130 km with ease....

They are breaking the law, end of story. Criminals end of story....

I didn't mention anything about death.

No-one forced them to drive at 90 kms over the speed limit. If you are stupid enough to do something like that
then you have to face the consequences....

Weren't we all idiots when we were young. :partyman: :weedman: :ymparty: Sexygirl....

I survived because my car couldn't do over 70mph without shaking so much you had to back off.

Today cars can do 3 times that and there are 3 times the vehicles on the road.

4: Only ever drove beaten up Commodores ( VC, VK, VH ) that coldnt go any faster the maybe 80kms hr or things would break if i did
5: When drinking stayed at home and didnt use my car, and also when at partys and ppls doing drugs etc said no thanks when asked to smoke or take the drugs

It doesnt matter if your cars hotted up or not.

most cars made after 1990 will get to 150kms no problem.

It doesnt make a difference what car they're driving, if someone wants to be a dickhead...they'll be a dickhead.

I've said for a while that under 25's (arbitory age bracket - I'm sure that insuring companies would be able to determine the best age bracket) shouldn't be allowed to own/drive over 'x' kw cars. 'x' being a limit seen to be a more appropriate kilowatt-age amongst the policing population.

For instance, a person under 25 shouldn't be allowed to drive a WRX (example only).

And yep, there are of course exceptions, but unfortunately the minority make the rules for everyone else.

Spot on Micky. One strike, you're off the road. It's the only solution. We had a pissed idiot sideswipe the tree at the corner of our place last night. We are on a back street and the amount of idiots who put the foot down to go sideways (especially when it rains) pisses me off something rotten. Idiots just shouldn't be allowed to drive end of story.
