Going on the trial game Vs smithfield and having watched a few other div 2 trials i would say 8-10 position is where you guys are at Booze and thats being generous.

Boozehound you should stop using the local produce out ther you are getting sillier! Mate here's my prediction, Kilburn will finish in front of EP this year. I could easily invest a slab on it if you like (that is if the new supremely fit athlete still partakes of an ale)

PNU v Goodwood Saints at University Oval #10 today

B Grade 12:00

A Grade 2:00

I'm thinking it might be a tough day out for the falcons.

Also played some footy with a few boys at hope valley and birdwood, some guys are playing at payneham now. Lowe, Rowett, Novi Palmer and Justin Palmer. How are they travelling, any news on form.

Lowe - Fast, silky skills will be handy
Rowett - Pulls in some freakish grabs, good at ground level, was top 5 in B&F last year (cant kick but)
N. Palmer - Mr. Potential (can play, decides not to)
J. Palmer - Looks as though he enjoys a meat pie, although can find and use the footy

Seaton 19-19 Kadina 12-9
Game played in very hot conditions - no wind this time.
6 qtrs again Seaton (like Portland) came over with a lot of players (great effort by both clubs)
Seaton were fitter, had a few more skillful players and ran the ball well when kadina turned it over - always had free players running thru the middle and hitting targets in the 50 - they looked very good and had a sound hitout - game again was played in fantastic spirit - think all players had a good run and should be better for it
Kadina played well in patches - Willy Searle up forward first game for club played well - Faulkner again showed his class as did obushak and waller.
Once kadina's rucks tired after half-time ramblers poured it on getting first use of the ball - the young no 2 - was very quick and seemed to have it on a string at times
Ramblers seemed to be all working towards the same goal and should do well this year

that sounds like the guys, good to see rowett still cant kick, its not really that hard of a skill but hey suppose he will never learn. hopefully they can all work well for the falcons. Lowe must have got some confidence up since he was a youngster which is good he was always skillful and quick but didnt put them together.
So how did the falcons go against the cocky saints.

As probably expected the Falcons went down in both grades, B's by about 5 goals and A's by 10-12 goals (no score board operating). Goody were in control all day, although some very good signs for Payneham too. Will be very interesting what happens this weekend, who knows they might even win a round one game

Round one excitement Div 2

Postby butterfingers » Mon Mar 30, 2009 11:28 pm

Is it just me or is there a massive buzz around the traps for this season in Div 2.... Getting a police escort to go all the way to eastern park for a beam and coke, up to Athelstone to squash some grapes, and all the way to good old blue blooded adelaide uni.....oooh yeah....

I also heard a rumour that the Ben Holland, the infamous ex melbourne demon might be coming home to play with his sublimely skilled but often overlooked brother luke, can anyone confirm this???

PNU definately look the goods this year. Ive heard rumours that owen "the scuff" wahpole the team manager for PNU A's has been found out leaking the team sheets to the opposition the night before the game, for an undisclosed fee........disgrace.

Kick on kids.

So a pretty big loss to PNU how does that help the old confidence. i guess they were up against a pretty class act but i am surprised it was 10 - 12 goals. this week payneham play seaton am i correct. i am guessing it will be an interesting one. any word on Terry Rogers, he still kicking. Red dog definately playing. should be a tight one this season. Wonder if the first 6 will be more successfull than last year or even three the year before. Payneham always been slow starters or is this just a div two issue. is that big young guy angelina Jolie still going. he was a freak when i saw him i think he was only 17 and kicking 60m easy.

PNU always have plenty of confidence, until things don't go their way and it deflates in a big way.

The slow starter thing has only been since they've been in div 2, their starts to seasons are normally very good, even so far to say that there were a few years there where they were 8-1 or 7-2 at the june break.

I thought Red Dog was out for the first game, from what I understand they'll also be missing Swainey and Chris Radetti. 3 pretty big names to be missing for round 1.

Nick Jolly, was, is and will always be a freak. He was talented as a kid but perhaps lacked a bit of confidence at the beginning but Macca has done wonders and has produced him into a damn fine footballer. Unfortunately, when he has a bad kicking day, his tally looks like a 1989 North Adelaide Grand final score

It would be good if they can shake the slow starter tag. Another year of mediocrity and you'd think PBTB would be having a re-think about the coach and whether he can lift them to the next level.

Mind you, mathematically speaking, if they lost the first 3 in 2007 and lost the first 6 in 2008, does this mean they'll lose the first 9 in 2009?

Just a thought 8)

This young guy can play footy when he puts his mind to it and focusses on the ball and he is a great kick.
Don't be surprised to see him sent off or reported during the season, has a habit of pushing the boundaries just a bit too far.
