Mawson Lakes North

Was at a do tonight with people that would know, and it was said the Salisbury council is seriously considering renaming Paralowie to Mawson Lakes North. Personally i think its a smart move.

Thats a load of bs Auto and you know it.

The only reason he suggests this is because he wants to add at least $50,000 to the value of his house. Mawson Lakes North sounds better than Paralowie :D

It's not as hard as you might think to rename suburbs or areas with suburbs

Years ago I lived in a new development at Salisbury East that was renamed Gulfview Heights. Didn't seem to take that long once enough residents banded together. It seemed more of an issue to get it through Australia Post's post-code system than to get it through council, at the time anyway.

this is not done through council, to the best of my knowledge the Federal Geographical Names Board deals with these types of issues.. and the Gulfview Heights thing took many years to go through.......

only a part of Ethelton has been changed. I think it is the bit the new development sits on from the waters of the Port river to the railway line which would be no more than 250m wide

There was actually a 'Letter to the Editor' in yesterdays Sunday Mail that came from a bloke from Mawson Lakes North.

Im not having a personal crack at Paralowie here, but i wouldnt think Delfin/Lendlease would allow the name Mawson Lakes to be used by just anyone. They have spent, and are still spending, plenty on promoting the name through the media.

personal opinion of course

Do you reckon the developers could have squeezed anymore houses in there? one thing I cant stand is houses shoulder to shoulder crammed in so the developers can make maximum $$$ and dont care about the asthetics of the suburb

Allenby Gardens is another example

Most new developments are cramming houses in. They call them "villas" now so theres no backyard and the roofs are about 30cm apart. When im a bit older and in a position to buy a house id rather buy one that was built 20 years ago then have a newly built "villa".

I agree Mawson Lakes isnt good to look at as well. Especially the apartments or townhouse things. Some have FLEURO GREEN things on the front to look more modern.

Name another newish development in metro Adelaide that isn't the same. Northgate, Harbourside Quay, Westwood, the one down at Largs Nth (can't think of the name) - all the same.

You are right, it is about personal opinion.

Agreed, the brightly coloured apartment aren't my cup of tea either, but some obviously like them as they get sold.

Basically, if you want to build a house in metro Adelaide, with spending stupid money, you have to build in one of these developments.

I would much rather have built our house on a 700-800sqm block, but i didnt have the cash to buy a house, knock it down and still have $300k to build our place.

There is plenty of evidence that the closer you crowd any animals together the more violence and delinquency you get...
The house my family had in West Croydon was on 810 m2.
I did, briefly, live in a large house on 690m2, and it was a bit tight for comfort.

Almost impossible to find a 800m2 block in a half-decent suburb nowadays Psyber. And if you can, you are then fighting with developers/builders who want the block to carve it up into 2-3 blocks.

My parents block at North Haven is around 700m2, and all around them houses are getting knocked over and land sub-divided.

Our last place we built was on 500m2, and it was the largest block in the sub-division !!!
