Only Rd. 1 but a nice way to start the season- with a win away from home.
How'd the other results go?

google "iscore" and you can see results for every division

[quote="turk186"]Golden Grove...going to be tough to beat most of this year I'm afraid
PAOC..only picking them based on the "roo" factor
Salisbury West...Havens seem to have had some off season drama and will be unsettled
Pooraka...some steady players will see them over the line
Greenies...like to think we have improved since we played them in 07 and a home ground advantage should help

Good luck to all

well can we talk about Greenacres losing to Adelaide Lutheran today??? What a joke, getting done by a club that does not pay a single player. And in true Greenacres style going the knuckle when the game was all but lost!

going knuckle what a load of rubbish. get a life and stop talking rubbish. beaten by a better side on day, it happens, but to say "in true greenies style went the knuckle" your an idiot

Well people, it was a crackerjack game last night, the dolphins coming away with the points.
The lights went out at Norwood Oval in the last qtr causing large delays and a huge halt to momentum that CBC had at the time. It was a see sawing battle in the last qtr once the lights went back on. Puccini best for the Dolphins and the so called 'one arm Centre Half back' was best for PAOC.

Overall a very successful night with a big crowd, dissapointing that Roo didn't play, I will never doubt Jimmy again. ;)

Noticed that Jimmy was an early leaver last night, perhaps he could see the writing on the wall.

I was there to the end - just needed to get a steak sanger & beer or two

Good of Glenn Cooper to turn the lights off at his stadium for a bit, to get a breather

Fortunately, Mrs Jimmy was in full flight at the party to care whether I was there or not

Agree with the Poo, but Jonno Walthan would have given the Poker Machine a run for best from the back pocket of all places!!!

Used to go by the name of Martin Young when I knew him and was a fantastic footballer in his own right.

Why would you change your name from Martin to Morgan ??? :?

Very happy with a win first up in round 1.
Unley actually suprised me. Having been supposed to be relegated and losing their number 1 player and goal scorer Matt Thomas, I would have thought Unley would have struggled this year.
However they were actually pretty decent. They had a few pretty good tall defenders and at times they moved the ball pretty well. There was a heap of new players I did not recognise from last year.
I think they may suprise some teams this year.

We were up by 5 goals at half time and I thought we would extend that by a fair bit in the second half but Unley got within 12 points in the last quarter.

Would love to hear some feedback on some of the other games? Especially GG V Fitzroy.

No one has really mentioned Salisbury West.............With Pascoe playing either CHB or CHF they will be a hard team to beat. Gave Haven's a fair touch up on the weekend.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Fitzroy are definitly an experienced, settled unit who just simply out-played us on the weekend. They are a team full of older guys (compared to our kids) and this experience and strength showed. I cant say they have alot in the B's to come thru, and definitly not alot of young kids, but in the main game we were simply smashed. They were clean, aggressive, moved the ball well and finished well. We had alot of younger lads who were roughed up and pressured into poor decisions and poor disposal and I think this aided the Roys cause greatly. Mind you, our skills and turnovers were terrible and we were bitterly disappointed in this part of our game which is usually very good but obviously the pressure put on by Fitzroy highlighted them more. We got within a goal early in the last but a couple of great bits of play by them with the wind at their tails saw them grab momentum and run away with it.
Losing our CHB very early in the piece was a huge loss as was a few late withdrawls. We showed some good signs but the difference was our poor skills and decisions and experience.
Late in the game turned a bit ugly but you get that sometimes... Fitzroy did what they needed to do to win and take the points. Can't say the two midgets in orange had the best of days but i doubt the result would have been affected. Fitzroy deserved the win and if we take anything out of the loss it's that 2009 aint going to be an easy year. But we never expected it to be easy anyway so the hard yards continue on the track this week. Put it behind us and think about the next game I say !!
