the Nick Darcy blow!

Postby AFLflyer » Mon Mar 30, 2009 8:53 pm

Anyone else watch Current affair and Australian Story tonight? Got both sides of the Nick Darcy Blew with Simon Cawley. Interesting insight from both parties. What I can't believe is how hard that blow from the elbow of Nick must of been, it must have caught Simon surprisingly. Brutal!!!!
However I think missing the olympics would have been punishment enough and a suspended sentence was justfied. He obviously is a lad who cant handle his booze and he has many friends out there!
Dissapointing that Cawley dint admit his clip over the ears firstly - however i am no way saying that he deserved that smashing! and hows what Darcy said to that bouncer this January!!!

So Nick's been banned from the worlds!

Received punishment enough missing the olympics?

The media keeps saying punch, a roundhouse elbow is no punch!

I feel for Nick Darcy here. as much as he did the wrong thing, i thought missing the games in 08 was very harsh, but he dealt with it and got back into he. he proved to people he is a great swimmer. he then received another punishment from swimming australia to miss the world games.
He has just been given two punishments for the same crime. if he quits the sport i think its sad, beacuse he made a big mistake, has learnt from it by all accounts and his punishment is extremely harsh IMO.

very harsh on him in my opinion, the blokes only 23 has busted his gut to get where he is now, to deprive him of this is bullshit, he missed out on the olympics and now the worlds, he has nothing to do but quit the sport...

discraceful decision

Someone in the Melbourne security industry told me it was always only a matter of time before someone lost it with David Hookes - apparently he was full of himself and very abusive.
However, there is no excuse for assault - I don't recall what the finding was in that security guys trial.

Oh the poor fella, oh diddums

Should be sitting in a jail cell right now IMO.
I mean how badly does someone have to be assaulted to receive a custodial sentance?

Suspended sentence -what a joke
Once upon a time you were shipped to another country for stealing, now it's a slap on the wrist for severe assault.

Darcy brought it on himself, alcohol and age are NOT valid excuses.

I thought the same thing. How do you learn things in life without having made mistake?

Everyone makes mistakes, but it usually doesn't involve smashing someone's face in.

My point is that the courts are soft on serious assault.
Whether it's a first offence or not, a message should be sent that crap like that is not tolerated.

Would you feel for him if the person that he hit was your sister or your mum.

Good question, or even just spare a thought for the victim of the assault. As in most cases, he's largely ignored.

I think its time we moved on.

Nick is young.

He didn't murder anyone.

This has been fully blown out of the water

Who doesn't make mistakes.

Lets get behind this talented young man.

So, he is a rich spoilt little brat, thats no reason to hang him.

Does the injuries he caused make a diference - I think they do?

- his face was shattered.

- The blow severely fractured his jaw which was later wired shut in reconstructive surgery.

- His nose was broken and bloodied and his left eye socket and cheekbones were fractured.

- His palate was broken and his mouth is now held together with five titanium plates and screws.

- He will never regain complete feeling and sensation in his face

- He will have to wear orthodontic braces for two years
