Similar list to last year. Will be as always 'thereabouts' again. It's always gonna be tough to win Hills Country Div with GH at TV and the recruits they bring in each year.

See the Footy Section in today's tiser are calling TV home of retired Magpies.

lol im stil around lads, it looked like a great game both teams were hard at it and great game to watch and good to see there was a bit of beef between both sides well it was wrong thing to do to punch a 17 year old lad in the face while being on the bottom of the pack nice cheap shot but yeah u gota learn the ropes i guess he will learn from it just good to see maccy and gum play at lot better standard footy.Gum rely on ashby alot of the time tag him out and not much happens after that he be good to see the umpire s keep up with the game and take control of it poor umpiring but went both ways thou

So did all these names take the field on the weekend??.. I ask this because from what i heard through the off season Battams was sick of bashing umpires (literally) and retired also heard J Sitters was staying in the States on 200k a year running the country or something?? If not was it really worth missing the GF last year... Lets face it with him in the side that game would have shown a different result..

Echunga was a class above all day. The first quarter Meadows looked something like an old Milang side, just letting Echunga run all over them, and keeping Meadows scoreless. Too much run and silky skills, Will be interesting though for Echunga when they come up against bigger bodies on a smaller ground, but play them on a big ground, from what i seen on the weekend I don't think many will keep up with them. Echunga won by around 28 goals, Echunga B's won by around 13 goals. Meadows still have the Juniors comp though.

First time I ever saw Echunga play, quite a bit of class to them! Apart from that - less said about this game the better, I reckon. Bring on Kangy. :D

Played on Hill, played fairly well, wasn't much he could do with the delivery that Hill was getting from Slattery, Clayton, McDowell etc

What can I say, Gumeracha did a great job.
Ashby is an extremely good player and Quinton Graham was very effective after half time and another guy who was wearing number 8 was very good as well as one of their indigenous recruits off half back.
Maccy was 4 goal up in the second quarter and then one of Gum's players - who looks lik a caveman - started going the knuckle and of course one of Maccys player's gets sent off for sticking up for a 17 year old kid.
Think both sides are a lot better than last year but how much they will push the top sides remains to be seen.

With all due respect that is garbage. Our bloke was giving a bit of niggle to the kid (who is fair game if he wants to play A Grade) and one of your players decided to go smack him across the chops, which of course led to the scuffle. The thing that made this win satisfying was the behaviour of some of the Maccy "supporters" who, when they got those 4 goals up thought it was pretty cool to start mouthing off and calling us all sorts of colourful things. After that, and one hell of a spray from the coach at half time the tide turned.

I do agree on the last line though. I think we're a much better side, as are Maccy but we're still nowhere near the top 4 sides. We had a few A graders missing still so itll be interesting to see what difference they make. We have Torrens Valley next game, cant really expect much more than a competitive performance but its always nice to start off the season with a win for a change.

Don't think it is all garbage as kneeing people in ribs/back when ball is far away is no good and to be honest all of your guys were good except for him and that solid guy in the forward line

Quinn was our best player IMHO and Patman was very good and also made best players but unfortunately Roughton pulled out of the game due to a family bereavement so all the best to him and hope he's OK

Guess what I'm trying to say is that while points system is a noble idea, unfortunately it plays into the hands of the big spenders as over time 4 pointers become 3 the next year, 2 the year after that and eventually 1 the next year so if you pay them for long enough, they'll only be in 1 pointer's eventually

I thought I did see him in the best - 4th or 5th from memory.

I wonder if he played B's because they couldn't fit him in the points system.........is that the first HFL club that has had to do that??

Or was it another reason he was playing B's?

ORD, the problem is whether it's the points or the salary cap, GH will still spend that much on players so i don't think the HFL can do a lot about it.

he is a gun. one of the dominant forwards in the BL&G last year. kicked alot of bags in an ordinary side with limited supply.

didnt play on the wkend due to the points system.

I think that is the idea to reward players who stay at clubs long term. I would consider players who have played at clubs 3 plus years local eg. Loffler at Uraidla. I think this is Carter's 5th year at Torrens Valley that should be worth decreasing points.
