Im only asking because i have no idea but is there any sort of appeals board or mediation that can be done between
the two clubs and the young man concerned
Im sure the best outcome is to see the young fellow playing football

Yes there is an appeals board, all Willaston need to do though is sign a clearance form to release him back to us. We have supplied them with many players over the years, we actually encourage the young lads who are on the fringe with Central Districts to go to Willaston opposed to any other BL&G clubs. We have had a good relationship with WFC and it has been soured by this situation.
It is a known fact that CDFC are more likely to scout from the BL&G underage ranks than to go and watch amateurs, therefore, we accept that the more talented kids need to go to this league for any future aspirations of being recognized by a league club.

No, only to play, it wasn't that much either, he got offered 10 times the amount by some country teams when he went and played in the Loxton carnival.

when a player signs a contract it is reasonable to expect he will honour that, we had a need for a ruckman and went and found one then concentrated our recruiting in other areas expecting that chris was playing with us. there needs to be some protection for the clubs in this situation and that is why we have the rules. otherwise u could send one of your gun players to a rival so as to thwart there recruiting in a certain area and then week before 1st game he goes back to his original club.
chris was also a no show for a meeting to deal with the matter where he probably wouldve been cleared and he also chose to ignore calls from people at the club , it was too late when he rocked up the week before your 1st game to sort it out.

He made it perfectly clear that he was not going to be playing out there a few weeks before the first round, why was there multiple people ringing him anyway as you have suggested. Why was it too late when he rocked up the week before our first game, you guys only had to sign a form, how long does that take, there was no need for a meeting, he was not going to be playing for you. I can think of at least 15 players that we have let go to Willaston without any fuss, this is despite the fact that we did not want to let them go.
We find that if you treat people with respect and allow them to make their own choices, quite often they return, once you start being spiteful, you not only lose the player, but anyone else that you might gain at another time.
A big thumbs down to the WFC on this one, I am very disappointed, then for you to come over here and start being a smartass about the matter is even poorer form.

Players leave smithfield for the blg because they want to play a better standard of football and the opportunity to improve their footy.

My mail suggests that smithfield may have some questionable ethics and no regard for the rules or intergrity of the SANFL affiliated club system.

You have no choice if players want to leave, the players make the choice and james chose to leave and made a committment to willaston.

If smithfield cared anything about his development or future they should be encouraging him to play at higher standard, but it appears that personal agendas will result in James missing an opportunity in the best competition available to him.

Willaston seem to be the ones being screwed here and verbal abuse and internet defamation isn't going change the situation for james - smithfield should encourage him to honor his committment.

He got poached, just like many of our players do from Willaston, he was offered some money per game, it wasn't huge and he does have a few friends out there who used to play at Smithfield also. He went out there early in the year but since has taken the opprtunity to become involved with the Speedway which his family have been involved with for many years.
He realized that his commitment to football was not going to match that with Speedway and didn't want the weight of expectation on his shoulders that would come with playing out at Willaston. We are happy to compensate for this and are aware he will not be playing every game, he is great lad and we support him with anything he does, a football club doesn't just revolve around what happens on the field, it's where friends for life are made.

willaston have been looking after talented footballers for 120 years, i am sure they were aware of these issues and had all of the support systems in place for james.

Well they always seem to return mate. It has nothing to do with the competition, we want Chris to play wherever he wants to, as long as he's playing, he cannot make the commitment that he initially thought he could, football isn't his number one priority at the moment.
You are making suggestions that i am defaming or abusing the Willaston Football Club, why don't you go and read what you just posted, you are the one insinuating ethics etc.

When players to decide to go there, we accept it, move on and wish them luck, I'm just stating facts, if daysofourlives didn't post his crap, I wouldn't have even mentioned it.

No doubt they probably did, he just wants to play in a more familiar place, I'm not bagging your club at all, I've heard some great stuff about the place and have friends out there, I just think that this whole situation is disappointing.

Its beyond me even if the kids done the wrong thing why would a club want a player that does not want to play for them
I would say glad we found out now and not later . It would be different if he was asking for a clearance to a club
you would be playing against otherwise its just PETTY

For the record, he grew up in the same team as Dylan Jessen.

The fact of the matter is he's 19 years old. He stuffed up by signing a contract (I'm sure he'll learn from that), but if no money was exchanged and he doesn't want to play at Williaston, there's no reason to hold him. Let him play footy where he wants. It's not the ******* AFL for crying out loud!

I wonder if the Smithfield vs Kenilworth B grade game is a draw, twice in the last 2 years, once at each ground.

A draw's a possibility, one I'd rather not entertain... I was so relieved that we won the game at Anderson Walk later last year by a decent margin, looked like your blokes were going to stage another fightback Zed

No D BRANSON this week, though... not easy to replace STAR power like that
