New sports store in Elizabeth

Postby Dogsbody » Mon Dec 05, 2005 2:40 pm

Just thought I'd let you all know...

'The First Bounce' in the Elizabeth City Centre opened on Saturday, nice little shop actually. One of the only sports stores I've seen that sells more than just Centrals club guernseys. They had Norwood, North, Glenelg, Sturt and West jumpers in there from Sekem for $100. I hear that the rest will be coming soon enough, the store isn't completely stocked.

They do AFL, cricket and soccer stuff as well.

Good on them. It's the little things that help promote the SANFL, this is one of them.

Not wishing ill of the new store, but as a general rule if you are looking to buy things such as SANFL jumpers it normally makes better sense to buy them direct from your own club.

That way the club gets $$, not the store-owner.

$100 for a club jumper? what a rip off, I can get one for $60 at the Eagles Club.

This is a common argument, and it's a simplistic one.

If club merch is only available from the club then it receives no exposure. Sure they make more money from a sale, but they don't get the positive knock on effect of having their jumper hanging in a shopping mall!

As a general rule, just buy the damn thing! :)

Thebbie, I visited the store and asked where the Eagles guernsey was. They said try Angus & Robertson around the corner. Under "comedy".

Poor mans Seinfeld GC.
I hear that as an opening special the Shop is offering a free flare with every purchase. I also assume there are CDFC league players "working" in the Shop, no doubt yet another opportunity for the club to rort the Salary Cap.

The First Bounce - Elizabeth

Postby Rooster Girl » Wed Dec 07, 2005 10:42 pm

Thanks Guys for the tip off. Went there today and bought myself a guernsey. Apparently they will soon be selling some other SANFL gear, as well as the SANFL State Guernsey. Cheers!
