One of my mates ( And yes i do have just one ) said Torrens Valley had offered some cash that no other club
would be able to match ( That rhymed ) So lets see if its the money or the mates

my mail also tells me he got offered a HUGE amount of cash at torrens valley and will be playing there in the next 2 to 3 weeks

Would they (TV) even have any points left?

Only ask as I know 4 or 5 of the TV boys really well and they say no chance due to points. Believe waterhouse was spotted around para hills last week sometime.

So can you drop players with points to the B grade and get those points back to give to a new player
so you can fit him in

In some leagues they allocate each team x number of points. The team list for each game cannot exceed that number of points. Each player is allocated a value based on their origin. For instance, locals are only allocated 1 point, whereas an ex-SANFL player might be worth 6 points. Is supposed to stop cashed-up clubs buying their way to a premiership.

The points system can work well, but if it is anything like the version of the league I follow, it definitely has it's flaws. The fmain thing I believe a league should do when bringing in a system like this, is give the lower teams from the previous year, a concession from the start (extra points for the first year). If this is not done, the system can stop a club from competing on a level playing field from the start. If you have the top team and the bottom team from the previous year starting with the same points, it is unfair on that bottom club who will be basically back to square one after using their points, compared to the top team, who had their players from last year, plus the same points to play with. I also believe that say the two bottom teams for the year, be given extra points for the following year, so they may recruit that bit extra and become more competitive. If this doesn't happen, it can turn into a lopsided competition and you don't want that. Hope that makes sense.

It would be interesting to see the makeup of D1-4 after 5 years of a point system

I reckon provided the league had a concesssion rule in place whereby the bottom teams from the previous year got some extra points to play with the following year, it could be great as far as an even and competitive league is concerned.

So its basically like a salary cap arrangement. I do agree with you in regards to the lower sides. Would it be the same concept if a team from a lower grade wins the cup and then comes through. Obviously they would be a little lack compared to the other sides in the higher grade. Or do they just carry those points over

Not sure how that would work mate because our league only has the one division, so we don't have teams come up each year or drop down. I would have thought that they should still be eligible for concessions as the bottom teams should be, because they are going to be starting on that same playing field as the lower teams anyway I would have thought. Especially if they had played in a lower division they year before.

This weeks tips -

Para Hills to good for Salisbury, the weather may save this from being a bigger blow-out.
SMOSH over Portland, 30 goals (sorry, couldnt resist Schimma ;) ). Seriously, it will be tough but we are on the improve, hopefully. Should be a good day, SMOSH have put a lot of work into it.
Woody South to beat Scotch, 4-5 goals
SPOC to good for Walkies, 8 goals.
Iggies to account for Mitcham, 5 goals.
