11 mil in Renmark last night, finally broke out in rain like acne on a 15 year old about half an hour ago. Should add to that significantly

Whilst the rain is very welcome it actually could do more harm than good to the river.
The cracking and landslides that have been occurring recently are only going to soften up more, meaning more land and willows sliding into the river.
Some shacks, roads and power lines are in big danger of falling into the river at the moment also.

My back verandah is flooded right now, but it is not getting into the house or garage.
I'll have to check the drains under the paving when it is dry enough to go outside...

I know it's a natural process that has occurred over centuries.
It's just a bit more highlighted now because of the shacks and homes being here now rather than 150 years ago.
It's not 100% human stupidity for building them too close as the cracking is affecting houses 60-80 metres back from the banks.
Hardly too close I would've thought.
Also, what part of "whilst the rain is very welcome" did you not understand ?
Don't make it try and look as if I was complaining.
I'm just trying to highlight another side of the struggles of the murray river at the moment.

Having purchased an old house in early Feb ( about 1920's ) I have just discovered in the most recent of rains the amount of leaks I have in my shed.

One major leak was an over flowing gutter as the rain water tanks are full and the over flow is not keeping up with what is trying to get into the tank, my shed was flooded.

$500 worth of new interior doors, ruined, pool table, ruined, loads of carpet, wet,smelly heavy carpet,ruined, old wardrobes in the shed used for storage,ruined. Just had Thursday and Friday off to get some things around the house done ( gardens mostly ) and spend some time with the Junior Boons before they went back to school. So now come Monday when I need to be at home cleaning up the shed and trying to establish some better drainage I am at the office hardly able to concentrate on the tasks at hand.

Yep, love the rain.
