Porties are definetely fielding a side. Spoke to the coach recently and he said it was looking good, even a few more numbers coming into the side

That's good news! Flaggies are getting ready for the Round 1 encounter - didn't want it to be a washout ....
Did hear tonight that the cocklies were struggling for numbers in the B's tho - not that this means that there'll be no C's. What have the numbers been like on the track down there in diverland ?
Porties forfeited Round 1 today .... obviously the numbers weren't real ones !
So i guess that is curtains for them. If you cant get a team together for round 1 then i dont like the chances of sustaining one week in week out. 2 Teams down, only 6 left. Whoever wins the flag might be the last team left!!

Not quite 20 goals, Morphett Vale 18.13 (121) d Christies Beach 3.7 (25)
Was a very good Morphett Vale outfit - looked better than the Hackham 1's the day prior.

you sure that was my man Klompy... he's changed, tell him i'm disappointed!!! good to hear a good win though. as you may have seen we got up in a tight one. your prediction for the medal wasn't quite correct, as close as you can get though with his cousin M Newman just pippin him at the post! Cookie's missus counted his touches for him on the weekend. 38 he had and do you reckon he shut up about it!!! anyway, a little off topic. hopefully for MV Klompy gets his kickin boots on and he'll bag a few every week!
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

Its a once off fellas. Alot of injuries and fellas had to work this week, thus falling short of the minimum amount required. There should be a team ready to face Happy Valley this week. Think the same thing happened last year too.

You would think that if you can't get a side together this week your club will do the right thing and pull your team from the competition, forfeiting is not on and hope your club has been fined for it, making it a 6 team comp with no byes. What has happened to the C grade competition?

OTW this week will test your depth as your a/b and juniors playing Sun against C/Beach.

I do agree with that. If Porties do fail to field a side this week, i'm sure there will be discussions about its involvement this year. But i'm sure they'll be fine, and prove to be a finals threat again

Didnt know that, well in that case there will be some tension amongst the club i'm presuming. A few lads were only filling in the B grade until the C grade started, so it's going to be interesting. Believe your club has seen this before too and things didnt end too well

Weak as P!SS!! Will be a long time before Porties win a flag with this attitude. Fair enough work commitments dictating playing on a sunday, but if they can play Saturdays and are good enough why aren't they playing B's??

The C grade team last year was primarily formed so mates could play with mates. Most have other commitments during the week and saturdays, so hence why the sunday C grade competition was chosen for all to play in. Most would slot into B's easily and half could even push for A grade selection, but its not what they want anymore. They just want to have a kick and a bit of fun without having to commit to footy full time.

I was also there to watch the Emus smash Christies Screach, Klompy won some admirers for his game today Wattle, seemed very willing to give off and share the ball - rare qualities for a full forward!

I also noticed another "stockie" bloke playing off the half back line, number 2 i think he was, he was amongst it early on tho he dissapeared to the rooms at 3/4 time (much like he has dissapeared from this Forum) he could be one to watch this season...

Your right Cheese Twisties he does share the ball around abit for a Full Forward but he keeps telling me theres no i in team but there is in winning and i think anyone who really knows him knows hes not a goal hog even thou he kicks 100 odd each year, told me today hes kicked enough in his time and just wants to injoy the year at his new club

exactly the reason why Aldinga doesn't have C Grade this year, wouldn't fill the B Grade, except ours are 21 and have plenty of footy left in them.

i Agree thats crap why wouldnt players want to play the highest standed they could, unless working cos that always comes first, dont think club is setting a good exable should say play where your picked or go elsewhere! No way a c grade team should beat a bs side,i wouldnt be happy playing bs and just losing knowing half the c grade should be playing in it,didnt they do this last year?how they go?still didnt win the flag so waist of time dropping back then while there bs struggled??

Yes the Shoe's cut the C grade a few years ago because of attitudes like your post. We have changed the culture around the place that Sat footy is priority and it wasnt taken well by some but sometimes you have to make the right decission for the betterment of the club as a whole.
We cleared a number of lads to Porties and find amusing you lads have the same issues.
The way the club has turned around and now have strong numbers on the track we will look at playing a C grade next year to accommodate those that miss out or have legit reasons that they cannot commit to Sat footy.

So basically they must play what they are told and have no choice in the matter. Pretty sure there is countries for this sort of ways. The majority of fellas that make up this c grade side weren't playing b grade for porties last year or the one before that. They formed the side to play together. So now you basically want to split up that group and make them play in grades above? Porties have been great in allowing this side to go ahead, and making these lads happy. As for last year they did well, and lost to morphett vale in a close contest grand final. Hopefully they can go one better this year.

Pretty sure the numbers on the track have more to do with the junior development at the club (Which i must say i admire, has come along way) and recruitment of players. Cancelling the c grade would of generated maybe 5 players extra back into the a/b's.

with only 6 teams in the c grade this year when cocklies pull out how will finals shape up. may need to be a soccer format it will almost be a usual game where everyone plays. be a bit like lonsdale in div 2 win pretty much no games just scrape in for finals and beat the undefeated for the flag
