Rusted boat trailer

hey guys

looking for some tips/advice regarding a boat trailer I just bought
The boat and trailer was a bargain, but the trailer is very rusted.
Has anyone got any ideas as to what I should do with the trailer.
Should I sand it back and paint it with some sort of galv paint or leave it and paint over the rust
Im new to having a boat so dunno what is the best thing to do?
or should I leave it as is??

anything ideas will be appreciated

Post a Pic Iron Fist.

Grinder with a heavy duty rotary wire brush attatchment sounds good without seeing a pic.

This will rid the rust and polish the existing metal.

How are the wheel bearings..?

Wearing appropriate safety glasses etc IF.

if I can get one I will dogger
one of the older wiser guys at work gave me a tip, said he did it to his trailer not long ago

said to clean it right up, let it dry then spray lanox? some sort of lanolin product that repels water
wont make it look any better but will help it last longer.

No idea how the wheel bearings are dogger
might have to check that out aswell!

Put it up for sale. Accept the first reasonable offer. Save your money for at least a year.
Then go to the boat show and buy the best, discounted new vessel, you can afford from the
most reputable dealer you can find. Even if they are interstate. Second hand boats are far more
dangerous than 2nd hand cars + you're putting your life and your family's lives in danger.
Next come insurance issues. I'm not trying to be a smart arse 'Iron Fist'.
Just passing on hard earned experience. Good luck.

but I would never get another boat this cheap, and I want one now lol
so I reckon ill take my risks (i know there are plenty) with it!

Paint Supplies at Hendon do some good deals on paint for boats and restoration type materials!

Leave it down Dav Park and claim the insurance??
