Final Stanley H. Lewis Trophy Scores

Congratulations to North Adelaide for winning it for the 2nd year in a row, and the 6th occasion overall - 1966, 1967, 1971, 1972 and 2005 were the other years.

This is the closest finish to the trophy since 1984 when Norwood and Port finished equal on points. Norwood took the trophy out, but I'm not exactly sure how - it might have been who ended up highest after the major round in the League.

A slight change of subject but...

The SANFL should have a page on their website containing their complete rules, including such things as full tiebrakers for these awards. Another rule which nobody seems to know the full details on is the qualification rule for the Reserves finals. If this was all stated somewhere and made publically available, then that would save confusion on many occasions.

Quite right. I was talking to Punk Rooster about the "tie for 5th/6th place on the ladder" thing and even though it is next to impossible, that these things should be made aware of what happens. Also, if you look at a copy of the rules to the match, there are a lot more procedures that happen out on the field that people do not know about.

Interesting to see whether over the years this has correlated into league premierships. FOr Port and Centrals, just about always, for Glenelg and Norwood, rarely.

Also - where did Woodville finish in '86 - they finished above Legs in league, and lost 2's GF (to Norwood), so they must have been close. Does anyone know?

In the Trophy in 1986 Woodville finished 6th. The only time that Woodville made it into the top half of the Trophy was in 1975 - 5th place.
