well, by a unanimous decision i have been outvoted by every other punter on here...

the comp isn't any stronger so i guess i'm just tryin to justify why we are sittin near the wrong end... the comp is def more even as opposed to previous years. my boys and the Piners have put on some good shows and at least haven't been blown out of the water. and as i stated previously, the games we lost by large amounts we have put on a good showing and been very competitive... however that is all consolation and we're sittin 1-6...

Round 8 tips:

Saints vs Houghton - going with the home team in a close one
Raggies vs Angle Vale - could see a cricket score here...do angle vale travel or just show up for home games?
SHOC vs Piners - can't go past SHOC at home but goodluck piners!
Adelaide Uni vs Ovies - Fresh start with a new coach, usually means a win
Crabs vs Sharks - Henley way too strong in this one

7R:
Saints
Raggies - same as the late game
Pines in an upset
Trophy hunters - How many will the brothers Vezis kick this week?
Henley by lots, and lots...

I cant comment on previous years.. what I can say is that it seems very even.
Sounds like to me that if your prepared to play 4 qtrs, then your capable of knocking a top side off.
There is a deffinate log jam in the middle with 5th spot deffinately up for grabs for sides that can string a few together.
Good Luck Ovies!

If i'm being honest I don't think the standard has gone up at all, could just be that most teams are more even now...St Paul's team from a couple years ago would beat our team now comfortably i feel....we underachieved back then.

Closed training session tonight for The Saints...We've also put a ban on airspace above Mawson Lakes to not only stop the planes coming across from Parafield but also to stop Cabbage hiring a helicopter :)

Saints vs Houghton - Cant really split them. Should be a close one. Think these 2 will be big threats come finals time. Either team could win margin to be no more than a goal.
Raggies vs Angle Vale - Dont seem to travel well. Raggies by 5-7 goals
SHOC vs Piners - Boys are pumped to give SHOC a real run for there money. That first win is close
Adelaide Uni vs Ovies - Uni just. Wouldnt be surprised if Ovies get up for there new coach though.
Crabs vs Sharks - Will be closer than most may think. Sharks are beatable and Flinders may have the team to do it on there deck.

Good luck to all this weekend. Go the Piners!!!

Saints Vs. Raiders Only based on not seeing Novosels name on the team sheet on the SAAFL website

Raggies Vs. Owls

Adelaide Uni Vs. Ovies Only if Cookie is playing. In my opinion he is in the top 1/2 dozen players in the comp if not the best on his day. Good luck to the new Ovies coach as well.

Crabs Vs. Sharks I think that they will simply have too much run and too much scoring option up forward. But wouldnt be suprised if it was much closer then people think.

Sacred Heart Vs. North Pines Im going to have to go with the Pines. Some decent ins this week. I look forward to this game being an Sacred Heart old Scholar myself and hopefully we can come away with the win.

Noticed Chad Wilkinson (formerly of Brahma Lodge) and his brother (formerly of Trinity OS) have signed with Flinders Uni. Chad is a decent forward and if his knees hold up, he's definitely the kind of player they need in that side.

big call there mate... i'd be interested in who everyone else rates from the other sides. or the people to shut down that would possibly change the outcome of a game...

i'd go the same tips, just not sure about the raiders v st pauls game, will be a ripsnorter!!! and i'm goin SHOCS at home against your boys, only cos they are at home. seems many a side this year are fantastic at home but just don't travel well, why is that?!?

Also played juniors at Pooraka and Elizabeth or Smithfield IIRC.
