Colds/Flu's etc.....

Postby hearts on fire » Thu May 28, 2009 3:03 pm

Has anyone else got a cold or flu of some sort?
I currently have a cold, but i am amazed to know how many people have a cold or flu.

I know atleast 5 or 6 people that have a cold or flu at the moment.

do you have a cold or flu of some sort?
do you have any methods of beating the illness quicker?

Yep spend the day in bed and drink plenty of fluids. The worst of it will be over in 24 hours. Works for me.

I've got one ATM, but stuck at work unfortunately.
I normally just wait it out. Sucks while it lasts.

Snap.

Had some very good cold/flu tablets over the past two days. The night ones are fantastic - slept like a log. The one time I did wake up, I felt I was high!

I've always found the old wives tale of 'feed a cold, starve a fever' works.

So for a cold...good to see you didn't automatically call it flu ;) ...drink plenty of fluids as already said and try to keep eating, even if you don't feel like it. My personal fav is chicken sandwiches. Stay in bed and try and sweat it out and avoid passing it on to others.

If you take those Lemsip/hot lemon remedies don't take extra painkillers as well, especially paracetamol, it's too easy to accidentally overdose.

Hope you'll be feeling better soon.

JAS

Thanks JAS.

i think i have passed the worst of it, so it's getting better.
I didn't go to training tonight, because i didn't want to pass it on to anyone else and didn't want it to get worse.

Should be back to normal tomorrow.

Cut up Raw Garlic in small pieces and spread them on toast (instead of jam.)

Beautiful.

Plus plenty of chicken soup with as many vegetables as you can find.

Get out of that bed and seek sunlight. ;)

Got rid of a fair bit of my flu at footy training last night.
First 30 minutes was hell but felt loads better by the end of it.
Just finished a bowl full of pasta with plenty of chili in it - that's cleared the throat and nose a bit!
Should be right for tomorrow now!

I had a 'flu shot on Monday.
Tuesday, late morning, I started sneezing.
Wednesday I had itchy eyes and aches and pains.
Thursday and Friday, just some lethargy.
I'm starting to feel better now.
That's why I don't usually have them, but I figured even a 1% chance of some cross protection from the new 'flu was worth it this year.

I'll have the new one when it is available..
