Good to see Brendon Moon in there
Played Div 6 last year, having a crack at Div 1 and makes state squad, good work

Great effort! 7 from Div 2 and under so they must be paying some attention to lower grades.

About time we forgot about this stupid u/23 idea.
If WA won't play state football unless it is U/23 they should harden the F**k up
What a weak excuse. Are they trying to say that they don't have 24 decent open age footballers.
The North Beach Football Club has won about 5 flags in the last 7 years if my memory is correct either their players are all u/23 or they have a very strong older group but not good enough to play state football

Give me a break lets just get rid of this rubbish

What a disgrace to all former state players who had to prove themselvres, that they were good enough to play for their state.
Now if you are under 23 they just hand a state jumper.

For the league centenary game in 2011 we don't showcase our best players just anyone under u/23

I think you will find that either its the vics or WAAFL get some funding from a government department to run their team and a stipulation of that funding is that the team is to be age restricted

I think it is unfortunate that the best players in the league don't get to represent it. Also why do they play the SFL game when it is purely a trial game? Lastly why would thry pick players that are injured? Players that haven't played for 2 weeks and haven't trained for 3?

It's an exercise or practice run for those who love getting their snouts in the trough.
There's a couple picked who shouldn't have been in the last 40 players but get picked because they are the nephew or cousin of someone in the League, it's called "nepotism"!
They're certainly not in there because they can play!
Now that is just plain dumb, don't you think?

Spot on Gator. Interesting there are 5 from Salisbury North and 4 from Gaza with the Coach and Chairman of Selectors being from those respective clubs. I know one of those nine players who is new to one of those clubs who had it suggested a state guernsey was on offer should he sign a clearance.

If it's the same one Im thinking of Rotter, he only got a late call up, so that would suggest otherwise... he's just played some good footy.

Interesting 1/2 the side made up of the clubs sitting at the bottom end of D1. no decent u/23 players at the top end of D1 or D2.
Haven't seen a state selector at any of our games all year. It shouldn't have to be up to the clubs to nominate, the selectors should be doing their job and watching these games considering the amount of selectors who get in the team photograph and have their noses in the trough.

The selectors are also in the line for " free handouts" and a lot of them wouldn't know what/who to look for. I had one come up to me 2 weeks ago and asked me, "which player is ###### and what number is ######?
Club coaches are the best to nominate players for selection, they see them every week and know their capabilities and form but I guess it's just another "job for the boys" that was created way back and won't change now as it might be thinking outside the oval(square) and moving into the 21st century.

Im not sure that if I was coaching the state side that I would want my players playing.
Just another chance to cop a bad injury....

there are plenty of good underage players from the top sides...

henely, ttg, goodies, gepps...

most blokes dont want to train 3 times a week for 6 weeks leading up to the game and so they dont go out for the first 4 weeks and arn't picked...

henely have about 14 players eligible, and i imagine ttg are similar.

theres is no real push for state footy either like there used to be with most blokes liking club footy a lot more...
