Didn't see the incident and really it doesn't matter how it happened but wiping your blood on someone else is not on.

gee I'd better keep my nose out of it, obviously struck a few nerves here.
Realistically though, for a player to wipe blood on an opposition players jumper - which really is a low act, he must have been a little peeved about something........

true. but is this epl now. Is it all about retaliation. Not good from Smith if what is alleged is proven. No one has any confusion at how the blood was spilled in the first place though.

Smith has a good record and should get a reprimand. Gowans should be reported for striking.

You Centrals blokes are all one eyed for a reason...but that's just stereotyping from me!
Fair dinkum!
...anyhow you can whinge and complain all you like but Smith got off, and so did the perpetrator! :axe:

So we're all in agreement? Gowans 5 games.

Too easy ;)

He has also played a couple of seasons of reserves and probably came through the Sturt underage system so his record would stretch back through those playing days as well.

Pleaded guilty to misconduct, and got away with a reprimand.

Who cares about a bit of blood, the entire blood rule was a complete overreaction.
Stuff me, Id rather someone wipe their blood on my top than smack me in the mouth .
WTF was going to happen? A potential (if any) blood disease passed onto a guernsey?

Seems like a sensible outcome. No 10 match ban as mooted on here, and Smith didn't completely escape censure for his behaviour, in the face of some degree of provocation from Gowans.

Gowans probably already had the guys blood on his knuckles anyway and would have transfered it to his next victim if he hadn't been made to go off too.
It sounds like a preventative health measure Mediscare would approve to me... ;)

yeah good result, a reprimand was all that was needed, if the same player was to offended again then a suspension would have to be imposed.

I will add though, even if the cut lip was a result of dirty tactics, wiping blood on another person should not be the action taken.

Fair enough result, and consistant with most first offence hearings for the SANFL tribunal. If he is silly enough to do it again then he deserves a holiday.

Silly act, but lets move on

Another soft result from the tribunal.
I would have thought that some Chinese water torture followed by a night with Tracy Grimshaw followed by the guillotine would have been more appropriate.
