New Homemaker centre at Gepps Cross

Postby interested observer » Tue Jun 09, 2009 12:06 pm

Did anyone go to the new Homemaker centre over the weekend...??
Why would you have a grand opening when half of the stores are not even tennanted ??
Not to mention the unfinished pathways and garden areas..

Not real safe walking for anyone walking on pavers that were unsealed in areas..
Or cutting through garden bed areas with exposed irrigation pipes to hurdle !!
Not to mention no walkways across the main roads that run through the middle..
Good fun driving in and out with adults and kids walking right next to you on the road.!!!

Will not even start about trying to get something to eat or drink...
Then again if coffees out the back of a van and one noodle shop is your go, well you would have been happy.
That's if you wanted your noodles for tea if you ordered them for lunch !!
What a joke....

I'm not impressed that they have removed the U-Turn exit on the medium strip and replaced it with Traffic lights that you cant make a U-Turn at.....

I went Saturday.

I was impressed with the size.

If you looking for something and you know your prices, it's worth a look.

I personally didn't think there were any bargains,

but I am not in the market for anything and only know the prices for what I want. ;)

I think every retailer in SA has cut to the bottom line anyway. Times are very hard out there.

The queues were very long in the checkout line in Harvey Normans.

I wouldn't queue 100 long for anything.
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

I think the developers would be absolutely sh1tt1ng themselves with the amount of unused shops
and were probably unlucky with the timing of it

And agree smaccer, dont need any more lights in that strip!

One thing they do get right in Melbourne. U-turns are permitted at all sets of lights unless posted otherwise, and the light sequence is geared to allow for it.
Without that you would spend your life criss-crossing the town trying to find somewhere to turn.

Totally agree, I dont see why you cant U-Turn at Traffic Lights were it is safe to do so. I would very much like see see nationalised road rules and cant understand why it hasnt happened already!

One thing about Melbourne is the "Hook Turns" or whatever they are called that people attempt in the city which seems to result in continous blasting of horns at set intersections in Melbourne, those I havent been able to work out as yet!

Yes, the "hook turns" in the CBD are a pain in the neck until you get used to them which takes a while.
They are all about not obstructing the trams while you sit there waiting for the light to let you turn right.
The theory is that you sit in the far left out of everybody's way and only start the turn when the lights give you the OK.
But if you get impatient and take off early, or someone behind you tries to race through late instead of stopping, near misses and frayed tempers result.

I have discussed the U Turns at Lights (in SA) with a couple of members of the constabulary. Since the National Road Rules were put in place several years ago IT IS LEGAL TO DO U TURNS AT LIGHTS IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. .....If there is a sign on the traffic lights. This is the case in Vic and WA. At this stage SA has not put signs up so it effectively illegal.

I think in Melbourne it is legal to do a U-turn at lights unless there is a "No-U-turn" sign - legal is the default.
