Wigan have also reportedly received bids in excess of GBP16m for Antonio Valencia from Manure and Real Madrid.

Martin O'Neill is keen to sign the former England striker, despite his poor form for the Magpies last season. However, Villa's finances mean that he would need to take a pay-cut of around 70,000 a week from what he earns currently at St James' Park. Italian giants Roma are also believed to be interested in signing him, and while they would be able to afford more wages than Villa, Owen would still take a cut in pay.

The only way Owen will remain on current wages is if he plays in the Championship next year and fleeces the Geordies.
He'll be taking a paycut wherever else he goes.

Is he not out of contact this summer?
Speaking of Toon![]()
Oberfemi Martins has reportedly rulled out a move in the summer, saying he wants to stay at Newcastle and see out his contract. I bet that statement had Ashley jumping for joy

And................Ashley has reportedly put Toon on the market for aknock down price of £100m Whilst that might look like a good deal, comapered to the £460m he was aking ealier this year and compared to the £260m he paid for the club, before any of your happy poster consider taking a punt on Toon, ask yourselves why it's only £100m. Huge debts and a crippling wages bill that will dwarf the £12m a year parachute payments they will get for taking the drop.
Newcastle are ducked, really, really ducked,
