The fight was a "one on one" with an older North Cheer Squad member (who didn't bother to stand with the Cheer Squad for some reason?) and a Grog Squad member. The Cheer Squad member had 2 Centrals mates with him - all were pissed. One of the Centrals blokes threw a "soaked" North scarf in the direction of the Grog Squad. One of the Grog Squad blokes took exception at the North Cheer Squad guy for allowing his Centrals mates to do what he did. So there was a scuffle between the 2 North guys, a few punches thrown and then a few other Grog squad blokes broke it up. The only damage done was to the 'ego' of the North Cheer Squad guy - who we should say has stepped over the line one or two times before this year but got sorted out inthe fight much to the suprise of the on lookers as to who actually got the points an upset in sporting terms given the non fighting rep of the Grog Squad guy involved . There were some very angry Grog Squad guys - but only at the moronic behaviour of a supposed North supporter. He let himself down but it summed up the day overall - North 'imploded' on and off the field. A few of us found it midly amusing that the only aggression on the day was between 2 supporters from the same club.

CD's midfield was dominant. Nothing fancy – they just outworked and out-structured NA. Football games, especially finals, have and always will be won thru the midfield. Back pre-season I was critical of NA for recruiting all these big name forwards when it was obvious they were weak through the midfield. NA supporters, one in particular, bagged me. I was told how good Wintle, Howard, and others were. Well Im happy to say I told you so - they got smashed yesterday.

I always suspected it was the case but now Im convinced. IMHO Jarman cant coach at this level and for rumours to be thrown about that he is destined for an AFL job is just a joke. He belongs at amateur league level where performance in the bar and the quality of jokes at after match presentation speeches are far more important than the commitment and substance necessary for success at a near-elite level. His team’s performance is a reflection on how he behaves and how he used to play – all show and entertainment and no substance. Premierships are not won by skill and flair, as Jarman would have you believe. They are won by hardness and NA doesn’t have it.

Not far off the mark there sus except Howard did play well yesterday against the odds and with no help - the rest of the midfield were woeful. Plenty of North people are asking alot of questions now about Norths inability to handle any pressure in big games. Injuries aside still had 18 fit blokes out there and some very experienced players as well but there is no plan B and some would say no plan A at times with Jarman. First year maybe put up with it but now in his 3rd year the same problems are still evident? Where to now North?

Maybe after Bobby Gerard has finished buying fleets of cars for North's interstate guests he could stump up for a new coach as well?

Howard would have to be up there with Nick Jackman for 'value for money' recruit of the year.

A well known "footy collectibles" merchant was sprouting that story mid year?

How is it that Koops drives a 1997 Nissan Bluebird and Clint Alleway had his 2002 Ford Sedan stolen mid year with all his window cleaning business gear in it?. That is the most wildly made up and inaccurate rumour for 2006. The person who in question sprouted that should stroll around the Prospect Oval on Wednesday or Friday night this week and pick out all the new cars driven by the players! He should also know that he can confirm that is bullshit because he is on good terms with the NAFC Chairman is he not?

Not so sure about that one, BPBRB. There is a bit more to this one than meets the eye, and wouldn't be so quick to rule things out, just because of where they may be happening.

That story is really is just bullshit - where do these sort of stories come from? If people start them and post them on forums (and if they are not trolling) then put up some evidence then. If I have ruled out 2 recruits (both who I know and one very well) then which other North recruits are driving brand new cars supplied by Gerard?

Personally I think its good when supporters of one club will pull their fellow supporters into line, nowhere near kids and not just take pot shots at opposition supporters. Just my opinion though.

The cops kept an eye on it and were only worried about the Central fan with the blue hat. I personally have chatted to that Central fan the last 2 weeks and I warned him the cops were keeping an eye on him, he was cool with it and thanked me.
Also I do have photos of these 2 people mentioned above but the moderators that talked about the Elizabeth Oval incident unamiously decided previously not to have photos like this up so I'll just keep them on the hard drive this time.
