We are the Power from Port
We're half a mil short

Does that mean no dividend to the SANFL again?

May be time to lease the licence to a team that will make a profit. Like maybe Gaza or Kilburn.

That's a healthy profit. They should use a bit of that to fix up Thebby.

Drebin (who is in the know at North) says that they have cooked the books each of the last two years. Can we trust North's figures, Wedgie? :

IMHO you can trust the figures r&b, I have the annual reports, they are audited by Brian Redpath a Charterd Accountant and I have no reason to believe he'd be someone not to trust. Mind you I could start listening to innuendos or make allegations and you'd believe me!

PS IMHO there's a difference between "cooking books" and what Drebin has talked about.

Central's is Monday week.

I wonder if we'll break the record this year for the duration of the AGM. Last year's Football Club AGM went for a lengthy 14 minutes while the Footballers Club AGM went for an agonising 5 minutes.

It's tough being at the top.

For once, Wedgie, I totally agree with you. I'm sure Brian Redpath has done an excellent audit job and I would trust him totally. The fact that he is a Chartered Accountant only makes him more worthy in my opinion :)

Perhaps I was only sharing a joke with my friend drebin.

Yes, there was absence of disssent at our last AGM (2004), which was present at the previous one in 2003!

My apologies r&b, I assumed you were asking me a question when you said "Can we trust North's figures, Wedgie? :"

Not really worth answering, is it.

Apologies accepted for misunderstanding the rhetorical question.

Don't let it happen again, though.

he he, I'll try not to.
You and I should start a topic one day and try and find something we agree with, I don't think there's been 1 thing yet!
Perhaps we'll both agree Rehn was carp when Westies win the flag in 2006!
(Nah, that wouldn't work, you'd put it down to Rehn's development over the years! )

I never mentioned "cooking the books" - the figures are correct. My point was really directed at the fact the true profit e.g. much larger than the reported figure has been sliced off into debt management. Last year we posted a $550K profit which caused some "heated" debate at the upper SANFL level - so to avoid "negative" publicity this year the bottom line profit has been creatively disbursed - all above board and legal too. When you have no money and look like closing the doors - no one is "chirping" but make a big turn around on the back of 2 pokie licences and then people start to whinge about unfair advantage! Damned if you do and damned if you don't?

Norwoods is this Thursday, and given the numbers of concerned voices anticipated, it should be finished by about Sunday!

SANFL Clubs 2005 Financial Reports

Postby sturtpeter » Mon Dec 12, 2005 9:48 am

Sorry to correct you, Jimmy, but Sturt's AGM is tonight (12-12-05) starting at 7.30pm in the Cambridge Room of the Sturt Community Centre.

I urge all Sturt Members to attend. The result will no doubt be a loss but given our fifth placing last season compared to 3rd in 2004 the result will be expected.

Bring on 2006 and the challenge to compete against the Pokie Rich teams again!
Avid Sturt supporter and SANFL fanatic.

I just had a look at the Sturt Accounts - $5,000 profit for SFC and $102,000 loss to the Unley Community Sports Club. The respective committees have a bit of hard work to do as in both cases the current liabilities exceed the current assets. In laymans terms money is tight and they will rely on the goodwill of their creditors to allow them extra time to pay their bills. I hope that they are able to work their way out of this situation. They also need a proof reader as there are a few errors on the UCSC accounts!
