If Bryant was playing at a CLG or BL i'd say he'd go close to kicking 100 goals. Forwards are as only as good as their service (midfield) deems them to be! Plus he isn't playing the lone hand this year.

The Lockleys Demons made the trek to The Den this week in what turned out to be a zealous, occasionally spiteful encounter.

The B grade fielded a team of dwarves on Saturday, looking like an under 15's side against the much bigger and stronger Lockleys team we put in a good effort to make a promising start. With the first major of the game and some excellent run and pressure it looked like the magoos had returned to the good form shown earlier in the year. It wasn’t to be, however, Lockleys superior skill and size proving too much in the end. Kym Logan was best afield in yet another nuggetty and courageous performance. The guts Lofty shows week in, week out is a credit to himself and his family – all of whom provide wonderful service to the Mitchell Park Football Club. Brad Schneider was easily in the best after rucking all day for the Lions. Brad showed some deft taps to our advantage in addition to brilliant foot skills around the ground. The much maligned Brad proved he still has what it takes to be an excellent player at senior level - providing his mindset is on the game and not the canteen. Tyson Vitale was his enigmatic self off the back flank showing his class is beyond the level he is playing. Tyson is clearly an A- Grade player if he could get onto on the track more often. Despite the best efforts of many players Lockleys were just too strong and ran out 6 goal winners – Lockleys 13.9 def Mitchell Park 7.9.

Congratulations must also be extended to Mark “Sambo” Sansome for playing his 250th game. Everyone involved at the club knows how much Sambo has given to the Lions over the years. The club will be forever in his debt.

What a win for the A Grade. Injury depleted, down a man for 10 minutes, backs against the wall with Lockleys surging we held on for what could be a season defining victory. Not a single person outside of the club tipped us to win this game, some suggested an 80 point flogging. Considering the difficulties we are experiencing it was one the better regular season wins we have had for quite some time. In a scrappy affair the Lions restricted the younger, faster Demon team with space reducing pressure. Lockleys could not get their running game going and our bigger bodies extolled a few victims in the midfield. Excellent forward line chasing and tackling was provided by all concerned but in particular Joe Leck, Nat and Luke McDonnell. The backline held together well and set up many scoring attacks whilst also restricting a talented Lockleys forward line to just 8 goals. Adam “Sarge” Hay was his usual self – hard, determined, fair and inspirational. His voice and leadership was essential to our victory. Lucas “Doof” Newton is possibly the shortest ruckman in D6, he is clearly not used to this position and only recently bought a pair of shin guards, yet he won more than his share of contests and also provided an option around the ground. Nothing but admiration should be extended to Doof for his efforts on Saturday. Matthew Emmerson in a new role showed his class with blistering speed and agility from half back. Emmo having only returned to the club this year has been a wonderful addition both on and off the field and should continue his good form provided his body holds up.

Despite the great effort on Saturday it still only counts for 2 points. We need to get back onto the track, work on our deficiencies and come our firing against Central United.
