Eagles best 21 to start 2nd Semi Final.

Postby eaglehaslanded » Tue Sep 19, 2006 10:11 am

I entered tis post on the eagles forum as well but here we go. On the verge of a 2nd semi final I've been looking at all the possibilities of our best side again and have come up with this line up. Don't be afraid to give me your opinions. Throw down your side as well.

F:WESBROOK, PASSADOR, RUGOLO
HF:KNIGHTS, GROCKE, INKSTER
C:SYMMONS, CICOLELLA, JARRAD
HB:A.SHATTOCK, MCGREGOR, MCKENZIE
B:HIER, PEDLER, POWELL

1R:LINDSAY, COLVILLE, SKIPWORTH

INT:COOPER, LOMAS, FIACCHI P, VINCE, JACOBS, SALTER, POTTER, TREEBY, FAIRCLOUGH

If Fuller chooses not to play McGregor then McKenzie moves to CHB, Powell to HBF, Fiacchi P to BP. When extended interchange gets rounded down the players remaining in the side would be Cooper, Vince, Jacobs. That leaves 4 other very unlucky players. Geeeeez what a selection drama this has been. One can only wonder what Fuller's going through to select the side.

Well you can take McGregor out of your lineup, an interview today with Ron Fuller stated that if McGregor is not picked for the Crows he will lineup in the Eagles Reserves

In that backline posted it looks far too slow for me. You could not play Powell as the backpocket to pick up a speedy rover. That is why Fiacchi plays back there.

I have not had a chance to see Hier play. Is he quick for a tall? I am concerned that we might not have the tall who has the pace to play on Schell. Pedler is too slow.

Also I am not sure I'd bring Knights straight back in who hasn't played a game for a while. I want a team that is 110% fit and not carrying anyone who might break down in the first quarter.

Agreed locky801 - I did state the changes I would make if McGregor didn't get selected. But here's my edited lineup:

F:WESBROOK, PASSADOR, RUGOLO
HF:KNIGHTS, GROCKE, INKSTER
C:SYMMONS, CICOLELLA, JARRAD
HB:A.SHATTOCK, MCKENZIE, POWELL
B:HIER, PEDLER, FIACCHI P

1R:LINDSAY, COLVILLE, SKIPWORTH

INT:COOPER, LOMAS, VINCE, JACOBS, SALTER, POTTER, TREEBY, FAIRCLOUGH

That is a bloody good side on paper & it will be a hell of an effort to beat them twice in 2 weeks, so my conspiracy theory is, lose this week, beat South/North the following week & win the Grand Final the next weekend. Simple.

One thing in your favour Centurion is that games of footy aren't played on paper, however there will be two games played this weekend, one on the ground and one in the heads of the 42 players.......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

My side wasn't getting much air time on the Eagles forum so....

I'll pick my side on the basis that McGregor won't get picked and Knights is not ready yet. Inclusions from the game against Sturt are Inkster for Fairclough, Skipworth for Lomas and Westbrook for McGregor.

F: Westbrook, Passador, Skipworth
HF: Inkster, Grocke, Rugolo
C: Jarrad, Cicolella, Treeby
HB: Symmons, Pedler (on Cowan), McKenzie
B: P Fiacchi, Hier (on Schell), Shattock
R: Lindsay, Powell, Cooper
I: Colville, Vince, Jacobs

Fairclough, Lomas, Salter and Earl would be very close to selection and if McGregor and Knights were available they'd probably come in at the expense of Hier and Vince.

Knights has to come in - he dominates at this level - would have lomas or fairclough in before Westbrook - he has been carried for weeks and could hardly run in the b grade last week

Perhaps, but most of them have felt the pain at some stage.
