I migrated to the Morphett Arms at half time of the 1s, never made it back till around 730pm so i didn't get to catch up with you afterwards...

Glad you came in to sound me out tho.

I have no comment on our current B Grade umpire coz i hardly watch the 2s unless im umpiring them

Dissapointing day down at plympton for the dees. C's and B's put in great efforts to go down narrowly, but the A's never gave a whimper which was dissapointing. Full credit to plympton though, play their home ground as good as anyone i have seen, they stuck to their structures, very disciplined and their skills were superb for a div 5 side. Smith absolutely tore us apart down forward, took everything within an arms reach and couldnt miss from any angle, but their midfield were superb, hard running both ways, and didnt give us any opportunity to get our game going. IMO their A's and B's are the sides to beat this year. The only positive that come out of the game was the 75 point margin in the A's won my mrs $50, and even that was denied, as she put the tickets in my name, yet claimed the $50! someone tell me how thats fair ;)

I was told that the number on the raffle ticket represented the margin in the A Grade game.....75 points was the margin and my mrs picked ticket number 75.....nice when the hv crowd is quiet and she is praying for another plympton score :D

So each week do you have a sweep where you pick a ticket which represents the final margin either way? How much does you charge per ticket?

Sounds like a great idea

We do a margin ticket for the A's, $1 per ticket, 120 tickets, winner collects $60, some weeks we sell 3 or 4 lots, the same girl has won 4 in a row apparently, there's no possible way of cheating, the tickets are folded and stapled.

It was the plypmton match day raffle, raffle ticket set up but the number translates to margin, i believe we just offer the meat raffle during our home games. Yeah it represents the margin either way. I agree its a good idea.

MADDOG3 wrote:Amazing game in at Anderson Walk today. Smithfield A's got the jump on Rosies and had a fairly sizeable lead around 3/4 time. But just when you thought it was in the bag, Rosewater strung a few together and the last few minutes were thrilling. Smithfield got home by under a kick, but what a game!

Oldy was understandably very happy with the boys still for getting the points. The Dogs never gave the fight up, and I think this will hold them in good stead for finals footy should they be there.

The B grade was a different story, we lead by a coupla points at quarter time from memory, but Rosewater got on top in the 2nd and used the footy well after half-time.

And I'd like to thank the Rosewater B grade coach for coming over and saying a few encouraging words after the game. We are struggling a bit in various ways, and I appreciate the gesture.

Not trying to take anything away from Smithfield as they had the better players on the ground for much of the game (in particular their skipper Taylor - BOG by that far he should get 2nd and 3rd votes too! And a couple of kids who were great – who ever was at CHF!) but it has to be said that in the end it really wasn’t a game of football.

With Rosies needing to kick 10 goals straight in the last term to win without Smithfield scoring, and the result only being 5 points even after they kicked a couple, it should have been seen as a cracker of a match.

Thanks to one individual who I won’t name but everyone at the game would know who I am talking about – reduced the game to an absolute farce. I cannot stress enough on how bad this individual was at performing his role in the game and certainly impacted the final result. I hate to say it as it sound like I’m just a sore loser but the comment from everyone – Smithfield and Rosewater supporters – was they have never seen anything like it – ever. Sadly that’s not the case, because some teams, same ground, some individual did it last year as well.

He should not be allowed to continue his involvement in the game. And that would be for everyone’s protection, umpires, players and supporters. I would hate to see someone's passion cause an error in judgement that would see a lifetime ban incurred.
