Shooting Balibo by Tony Maniaty
Tony was a journo in East Timor when the 5 journos were killed in Balibo, the book is about the his assistance on making the film "Balibo" about the murders

interesting for me as I deployed to East Timor in 2001 when in the Army and visited many of the places in the book, including Balibo

Apart from revealing Maynard as a pessimistic prick,(Bless him for being like that ,BTW)
it didn't reveal anything that I already knew about Tool.
It is well written, McIver has done bios on Metallica and a very well received Slayer book.
There were a couple of glaring typos that I found.
The first was a photo claimed to be taken in 1993 but with Justin in the photo.
The second was a reference to the 2004 US election being disputed in Florida and the courts.
What I found strange was a decent part of the book devoted to A Perfect Circle.
I'm a big fan of Tool so I'm not going to be too critical and it makes a good companion to a Revolver special edition on the band which came out in 2007.

great thread! took a while to read through.

just finished the Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini - absolutely brilliant,

just started reading his other book - A Thousand Splendid Suns

also reading my great, great grandfathers Autobigraphy, Gather No Moss by William Linklater, this is a little bit bout him:

William Linklater (better known as Billy Miller) was a rebellious child who had tried to stow away on a ship in the Port Adelaide River before running away from home again, this time to the bush. He went to the Northern Territory in 1887, living mostly around the Top End and in the Kimberleys. He assumed the name Billy Miller to escape being traced by his father, a name adapted to 'Billamilla', meaning waterhole, by an Aboriginal group Yanta Wonta.

"The Sound of Thunder" by Wilbur Smith

Very good read so far. I think I have read it before though. I can predict bits and peices as they come up, and certain phrases stick out like I have read them before. I can't remember the basic plot though and have no recollection of how it ends up, and I don't remember ever reading it before though I have read lots of Willie in the past.
I must be turning into an old bugger methinks...

Once you've read three Wilbur Smith books, you've pretty much read them all. So it might not be that you're getting old Theri.

Brilliant book. Tom Kruse is a genuine legend. I'd love to see the movie made about him (Back of Beyond I think...).

It is the one that was famously banned...this will give you a bit of info about the court case and some of the countries that banned it...including yours...don't forget the F-word has only come into common usage in very, very recent times.

Thanks JAS, wanted to finish it before looking at that site.
