Do you believe in Aliens?

Of course! They took me on an intergalactic adventure, placed a brain scanner on my head and shoved a proboscis up my butt to see what expression I'd make.

Do you believe in Aliens?

Postby therisingblues » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:47 am

Is there life out there amongst the stars?
Are we being observed by an advanced species?
Who helped build the pyramids?
How did those statues get on Easter Island?
Why did Celts build large stone structures on Salisbury Hill?
How did the Mayans develop their calendar?
Crop circles, Rosswell, Bermuda Triangle, etc?
Elaborate hoaxes? The wonder of primitive cultures?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

There's a lot better chance of their being Aliens than a god. Almost 100% better.

I have a friend who is an Alien, he quite often doesn't meet up with me when he said he would, so no, I don't believe in Aliens, they are liars.

It is a complex issue.
As a child, of about 10, I saw what appeared to be a "flying saucer" but was smart enough to not mention it as my father would have ridiculed me.
[He was of the, "We'll never be able to get into space!" philosophy - and rather negative about anything out of the ordinary.]

Statistically, it seems inevitable that there are other planets around other suns in the "habitable zone", where life may have evolved, and not yet extinguished itself.
But the distances are such that, unless Einstein is proved wrong, we are unlikely, ever, to know for sure.
The nearest star Proxima Centauri is 4.2 years away at light speed, and not a good candidate for supporting life on orbiting planets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxima_Centauri

Alpha Centauri [A and B] - it is a binary system - looks more promising as the twin stars are more like our sun in type. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Centauri

So, I voted "Maybe".
I don't think "aliens" had or have anything to do with the things on TRB's list above - Immanuel Velikovsky's explanation may be more plausible.

I've been involved in cover ups for most of my working career. I'd be disappointed if someone is not covering up the existence of aliens.

I have no doubt there's forms of life out there. There's plenty of organic compounds in amongst the universe.

Intelligent? Possibly but they wouldn't bother with us. They probably don't even know we're here.

Comedy answer: There's no Port Adelaide Football Club on another world, so there's definitely intelligent life out there.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Do you believe in Aliens?

I am of the belief that if life can exist on this planet and the Universe is limitless then sure, why not? Why cant there be life elsewhere?

Just because Earth has provided the right conditions to support life and those planets closer or further to our Sun do not, it does not mean either similar conditions are found elsewhere in another Universe or that other beings have been able to adapt to far harsher and less hospitibal conditions than the ones we experience.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.
