ROUND 11

ROSEWATER - should bounce back at home
ELIZABETH - saying nothing or i'll get hammered by all the 2 year club legends
PLYMPTON - just, in a great game (nearly picked a draw, hard to split)
HOPE VALLEY - sticking with you guys, got to start winning the close ones soon
SMITHFIELD - kenilworth scores starting to look like ingle farms
Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts....

Some interesting results there...

Smithies' B grade had an uphill battle today, starting off without a full 18 on the ground (I don't think we had 18 on at any stage, I may be wrong). It was a good game and the final margin doesn't reflect the nature of the game, having been up at half-time and still in the game with about 10 minutes to go. Gilmour dominated again.

The A's had a decent win. Kenilworth threatened at various points of the day but there was always a feeling that Smithfield had enough to counter any serious Kenilworth challenge to the lead. Still, the final result wasn't decided until the last few minutes.

Suprised at the Plympton, Hope Valley and Rosewater results. What happened to Rosies? Normally they are very hard to beat at home and have now dropped a couple of games they would have been favoured to win. Very rarely do they get thrashed at home. Hope Valley have also dropped two games badly. I guess it helps if you kick straight like WOS did, but that losing margin would be a concern.

And I'm amazed I was only one point out on the Elizabeth margin. Having a good run with that.

WOS couldn't do a thing wrong and played some exciting footy in the A grade today. We have our work cut out for us now with a tough couple of games to come. The top side this week, then Rosies away...

On a disappointing note, it's sad to say that WOS' B grade umpire needs to do everyone a favour and retire. I know it's hard to get umpires these days, but this bloke was seriously bad. I swear, whenever he blew his whistle, he'd forget why, and then had to quickly make something up! The bloke was about 90 years old!!

Surely the boundary umpire who played for them last year could do a better job?? In fact, my dog could have done a better job than him!!

As you said mate very hard to get umpires, i hear your point, the old boy does struggle but seriously its not as if we have blokes lining up wanting to do the job.

I know there were many calls of "cheat" coming from all the HV people (players included) but i can tell you its not cheating, we get the bad end of it just as often (maybe not today, fair enough)

I guess my point is that it does nobody any good personally ubusing umpires, all that does is discourage others from putting their hands up (such as the boundary umpire you refer to) they are on a hiding to nothing, i can tell you there is no way i would put myself through that for the $70 or $80 bucks you get

Ultimately in the B Grade the best side will win on the day as HV did today regardles off the umpiring

it was one of the best games of amatuer footy ive seen in a long time.... up to 3 quarter time it was one of the best games of footy ive seen.... Regardless of the result, footy was the winner....
POS played well. Very strong side who are impressive all over the ground... by the way there coach is the best straunny lookalike ive ever seen (only skinnier).....
good win by plymptons reserves, are goal kicking could of been better. POS love giving a cheap one...im interested to see what other clubs think of the Pulteney umpire in the reserves... My opinion is he is the worst umpire ive seen, i expect umpire from other sides to be biast but he was very ordinary, id go as far to say he was cheating.... i know jabber your a fan of the umpires but he was a shocker.... worst this year.... by a long way!!!!! well done to POS! The ladies behind the canteen are lovely, i was more then happy to fill up a esky for them.... cheap beers, GOLD!!!!

11!

Postby Bulldogga55 » Sun Jun 28, 2009 12:12 am

I thought Pultney's coach looked like Austrailian cricketer Cameron White a bit.
Any way wel done to pultney, showed more desperation when it counted and decision making was way better than ours. Thought Ian Perrie was sensational today around the ground and kicked 2 or 3 important last qtr goals from long range too.
I think Plympton werent too far away today even though we had a few out but pultneys skill and toughness was excellent today!!! Both teams will feature come september! Well done to the magoos too!

S Demon on your spray to the WOS B grade umpire, sure he is not great but one thing he is not is a cheat. I will make you a deal he goes when you guys get rid of that Goal umpire. He has only got a couple of decisions to make is it a point or a goal and it appears he gets that fairly well wrong on a consistent basis. Bad eyesight or something else ?

I see your point about our goal umpire who does make mistakes from time to time. I didn't think there was any yesterday? In fact he called one of our goals (in the magoos) touched in the last quarter that was right on the line and could have gone either way.

I probably wouldn't have even written anything on here and just accepted him as having a bad day if it wasn't for his decision in the last quarter when the game was still up for grabs. He blew his whistle, paid the mark in the goal square to our FF, then changed his mind and said it was knocked out of his hands and was a point, then changed his mind and balled it up, only after waiting long enough for WOS to get some numbers to the contest. No idea of the rules, or something else?

I agree neither will be there in the finals, for the record in the A grade he called a goal for you guys when it missed by about half a metre in the last quarter. Neither cost our respective teams so its not an issue.
