I said this last year and i'll say it again.... the team of the year(s) are a joke!

The majority only see each team twice and then the rest is going by what is written in the budget (which are generally an extension of what the sunday mail reads) and half the time then best players in the sunday mail are 100% correct...

but whatever, it still makes interesting reading ;)

A smart coach doesn't put his "best" players in the paper.

How else are people supposed to judge it then? Not sure of the last time I saw any amateur league footy on the tv, so we can all catch more...

Get all of the coaches and captains to submit a possible team and the majority wins, browny's right, it's nothing short of a stab in the dark, good on them for trying though.

Very interesting to see there was no R.Mckee in either of the two teams posted. . Thought he'd been having a pretty good season, but after last games comments maybe coaches have left him out for diciplinary reasons :D

I like teams of the year, I agree that they are never 100% correct as they are opinion based all the time, but its good to see who thinks what players are doing well during the year.
As a players its good to know that people from the outside looking in, or even the opposition think that your doing well enough to be listed in the best 21 for the season.

But yes usually very opinionated polls with alot of quality missing out every time.

Coming from your league of last year it would have merit, good local paper coverage, everyone knows a fair bit about each other in them sort of leagues, when there's four new clubs in each division each year, generally you don't know a lot about your opponent until the 2nd time you play them.

For Mitchell Park its usually the team manager that puts in the best players for the paper.

It is always different though, the players that get best at the club (decided by the coach) are usually very different to the ones who get their names in the Sunday Mail.
