Going to have to play in it this season, so i dont see how the weather is "so bad".
Get used to it lads seems like a cold rainy winter is on the way.

Never seen the benefit in training in the wet- especially at this level.
If guys don't have the skills on a dry day, they definitely won't have them in the wet.

So if it starts raining tomorrow, we transfer the game to ETSA Park?

where did we say play a game inside?..we were discussing training..

the point is..if at the higest level they dont believe in training in crap conditions..then why do we hear this myth of "we must train in the rain because we will have these conditions on saturday"..you dont need to train in the rain to know how to play in it..we have all played games in the rain, the rules are pretty basic and most 8 year olds would know what to do and what not to do..fwiw..we trained in the rain last night but tuesday spent some of it inside..and the previous tuesday we spent the whole night inside doing indoor exercises

No probs champ, I was brought up with the old " you play as you train" theory. Myself would rather train in the conditions i play in, since i only play div 6, not the highest level. So in pre season y are we training in the heat, not indoors with the air con on?

because thats the nature of football..your body needs 2-3 months of conditioning to play this physical game so you must train in those months because you have to get your body in shape for winter..and i believe most teams(when the heat is to high) would arrange beach runs or trips to the local swimming pools or cancel the training all together

i agree you play as you train..but that isnt saying you must train in the rain because its going to rain this week..your levels of intensity, voice and mood are all captured at training and can most definitely be transfered to a saturday..but your levels of intensity, voice and mood need to be up wether its 35c and hot or 10c and raining..its not related to the temperature "you play as you train"..its related to your brain :)

Agreed Zed. When its wet, the players with the footy smarts usually play well, and unfortunately you can't teach that.

Nothing worse than training in the pouring rain when it's freezing and getting a few phone calls Saturday morning with players pulling out with the flu.

One of the biggest myths perpetuated by the football community IMO.

i think when there is a light shower and the ball is wet, then you can gain something out of training. get use to how slippery the ball is and how much it skids etc
when its pouring down, i dont think you arent going to get much benefit from it. i dont think there are too many players focusing on their skills and everyone wants to get off the track. may as well go to the gym and build some strength. going to be more useful in scrappy matches than a cold

i dis-argee, i find i try new things in the wet to see how i cope.. the ball just skids so it teaches you not to worry about the bounce.. i believe training in the wet and rain does help a little for me personally..

everyone is different, maybe some people just dont like getting wet..

hope it rains saturday : )
