I'll make a point of it, I hate to think any SANFL fan can't get the information they need. Cheers, see you next week.

The effort of the Eagles in the first half was absolutely disgraceful. Only Luke Powell looked like he wanted to be there. The rest were intimidated, out smarted and lacking in any sort of mental application.

How a league footballer can kick into the man on the mark from 10m out is beyond me. Passador was well and truly shown up today and spent all his energies chasing Graham up to the other end. And then Inkster takes a mark in the goal square in the 2nd quarter and somehow stuffs it up. It was just pathetic.

Once again Roy Laird made Fuller look like an amateur. Every final Central find easy ways to kick out from behinds without pressure. There were some decisions that I find hard to understand. Number one - we had Jacobs, Fairclough and Pedler start on the bench. What use is a full back starting on the bench? Number two - Cicolella in the back line. It's bad enough having one defensive player in Shattock not picking his man up, let alone two. Not to mention the fact that he is one of the premier on-ballers in the competition and our most creative player. Play him in the middle or at least in the forward lines. Number three - how could we leave Wilson as a loose man across half back in the first quarter when all year we have gone one on one even if it means we have an extra forward line player. He murdered us. Number four - play your best 21 players available. Not your favourite 21 players.

The second half was a lot better, but meaningless given the start we gave them. All we really did was stop them. Every goal was a hard grind. McKenzie, Inkster and Cicolella came into the game, but the horse had well and truly bolted.

Fortunately there is next week. We will need to see a different team out there. Both teams next week have suffered humiliation at the hands of Central, who obviously are a well drilled side, but really are not that great and can be beaten. Today's game was a shocking advertisement of SANFL football. Well done Central on yet another Grand Final appearance. Eagles lift your game.

WOOOOO, The Eagles are Jet flying, Limo riding, woman stealing sons of guns. The greatest club ever. It's not cheating if you don't get caught.

All apologies to Mighty Eagles - but every time I see this tag on his posts, I giggle.

Someone stole the wings off that jet, the wheels from your limo....and those women you're stealing - they've got no teeth cos they're all pensioners!
As for greatest club ever......?

What amazes me is how the "experts" never learn. All the Advertiser writers picked WWT.

The "expert" who previewed the match even suggested that they would "learn" from their previous maulings. Does it occur to anyone that they lose because they are inferior ?

Theres been some serious under-estimating of Centrals this year I think. With all their departures in the off-season, most opposition supporters thought 'end of an era' it seems. It was also the first season that they havent truly dominated this decade. But talk about peaking at the right time. They are just as good as any of their premiership years...if not better.

If they go on to win the flag this year, it will be their best of the lot in my opinion.

Macca - this week I've been thinking about where I'd place it.
While it'll be a great effort if we can claim it, to me, it'd rank behind 2000 and 2004.

Obviously 2000 because it was our first and the emotions of that day can never be repeated, while 2004 was one where we supposedly went in even-stevens, but obliterated the Eagles.

It'd definitely be third because of the gritty way we went about the job.

However, I'm a pessimist, and always will be in regards to Centrals (strange innit?) and I won't be ranking it until we actually win it. Long way to go in this year yet.

My pleasure, although it was a little hard staying interested in the second match after half time :)

You serious? Gee I was shitting myself in the last half as the Eaglies wore down the margin.
Our boys had played in the heat last week, and they threw everything they had at it early and it told on them.
I was sooooooo relieved Schelly kicked that snap.

Hard to believe I can still be pessimistic about these boys!

I guess we have a different perspective if it's our side playing. My side wasn't playing so I never gave the Eagles a chance as they never got withinn 23 points in the final term. Had they got another couple of goals and narrowed it to 11 points, I would have sat up and taken notice.

I doubt 18 scoring shots would have won you a game of football in any other match this year. Your midfielders couldn't kick a drop punt for the first 20 minutes of the game. Three lucky soccer goals early in the match. Terrible messy football by the Eagles due to the Central pressure, but also a lot of pressure from themselves. Your defence was brilliant, but IMHO the Eagles themselves brought about the result through a lack of application. I am not talking about the Central team of the last decade, I'm talking about 2006. If North and the Eagles honestly don't think they can get past Central I'd be very disappointed because there is no reason if the playing group and the coaching staff give an honest 100% effort.[/quote]

On principal McGregor was left out of the team. He would make my best 21. Vince unlucky. Earl unlucky. When you look at who started on the bench, you surely need two runners. If Pedler was not to start why play him at the expense of someone else that can play in the midfield or have the flexibility to play forward. I would have had him in starting 18 even with Westhoff starting on the bench for the other team.
