IT'S MARAREY MEDAL TIME.

Postby CENTURION » Sun Sep 24, 2006 9:33 pm

People think that I am nuts when I say that O'Sullivan is better than Bello but he will romp in our best & fairest this year & will go bloody close to winning the Magarey Medal too! Thoughts, anyone? He is kicking 4 goals every week out of the centre! In his first year!

92 goals from the centre in a season is pretty good, sounds like he's got leading goalkicker stitched up as well :)

Agree that O'Sullivan is having a stellar second half of the season but don't think he will come close in this year's Magarey. Unfortunately umpires, being human, would not have taken notice of O'Sullivan until well into the season. Next year, if he plays on, I reckon he is a real chance. Still can't compare him with Bello - Bello won two Best and Fairests (including one in his first season with us) and was a consistent champion over seven seasons, always finishing in the top five in the B & F. Will let you know in six years if I can favourably compare Chad with him. Don't get me wrong though - I love Chad!!!!
Cheers!

I'll be there this year, and looking forward to it, as no North player has a chance IMHO Im hoping for a Brett Backwell victory but I think Clayton will do it again.

Clayton probably wont poll a vote between about R12 and R18, and didn't play R23. Could be costly.

I've backed O'Sullivan for the Magarey @ $101- I believe this is still available

Agree that O'Sullivan is a genuine smoky for the Medal (PunkRooster - I did check this last week, and he has been backed from that $101 into $21 or $31 for the Medal now) - he did have some good games early (the West night one comes to mind there), and I really think he could finish with a rush. FWIW, I think Rhys Archard is the one to watch; while he may lose some votes to Parry and Davey (over the last few rounds), he has been excellent all year.
My one reservation with Clayton is the flat spot already mentioned midyear, and suspect Mouse and McConnell may take votes from each other, but it should be a very close count.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

My best result would be O'Sullivan winning it from Rhys Archard- backed Archard each way @ $31 :D

I think the fact his name is Chad will cost votes. Seriously, who calls their kid Chad? (apologies to any Chads or parents of Chads who read this).

Clayton, Slade and Backwell should cover the top three - toss a coin to determine the order.
