good luck ambo, but this may just be the straw that breaks the camels back. sadly perhaps another suburban footy club (very old one at that) may disappear.

To all that have an interest in what is happening down at the Ovingham Football Club.
I have decided this morning to walk away from my position as Caretaker Coach immediately.
The problems there are alot bigger than I am able to fix and there is no certainty that I would regain the coaches position next year should they survive.
Thanks to the guys that have reignited a coaching passion for me.. I hope to gain a position somewhere next season if your interested.

Good luck to whoever decides to pick up the pieces.
Good Luck Ovies!

You are kidding yourself Ambo72, a 1/2 dozen posts ago you were pleading for people to help and that the club needs them, then you pull out, then advertise yourself for a coaching position.

Yeah, I can see clubs fighting for a bloke with your inner fortitude.

What's going on here, don't tell me you've given up without a fight?
All that does is give credence to those who have done the damage before you. It wouldn't be an easy gig but sh*t don't surrender without a yelp!

I did go to the club Wattle.A few things were said and the situation has become a little clearer in terms of the damage one Chris Newman has done to the club. The word is that all the money from the bar has been going straight into his pocket. Not my words but those of people at the club.As for the coaching job I would say that plenty of blokes could do a better job than me,but I may be swayed to put my hand up for a role in the running of the club.It seems that Ovingham badly needs Ovingham people to get on board and save the club.

i have played under Chris. he is a good coach who knows his stuff, he is hard nosed, passionate and stubborn! He brings the best out of his players, its simple step up or p**s off! this is why guys follow him, he is brutally honest and straight forward, you know where you stand, and he manages to bring out the best in blokes..

Wingfield burnt their own bridges, couldnt manage their trouble makers, look at the sides, chris coached the b grade and encouraged the boys to step up to a grade, boys which in the end won them the flag, then he copped abuse uncalled for!!

Gepps Cross wanted nothing to do with the "gypsies" back in the day, shunned them and made them feel unwelcome! These blokes brought records, membership, players and a flag to the club..

Honest and straight forward???????If that is the case then where has all the money gone????

04 what was the general feel down there??do you think they will or can find a way out of this or will the club say its all to hard and fold.would be very sad indeed to see any club in any grade fold, and 40 blokes not playing for the rest of the year

I apologise, it seems i have mud on my face! Very serious and disappointing to hear, i guess this will be the end of his career as a coach, with such a serious issue have the police become involved? Although i was refering to his coaching not his management of a club :P i sincerly hope ovies can pull together and get thru this

quote
" Ovies to self destruct"
It appears the Ovingham Footy club are headed for disaster.
Having appointed a well known '------- as their coach and with him bringing the remnants of Wingfields Grand Final night debacle, they are now in the throws of dismantling the Cats.

It appears a couple of committee people have been 'sucked in' with the crap the ------ has put forward, turned on the rest of the committee and all hell has broken loose

I hope they sort it out otherwise the club will disintegrate"

It appears that the above post put on this forum many months ago by Rupert my Boy may have come to fruition. It's unfortunate that it has happened but Rupert must have known something, don't you think?
I understand that Rupert is now living overseas so I guess there will be nothing further from him on this.
I hope the Cats can get it sorted out and carry on playing football, they are over 100 years old and something needs to be done to help them, if I can, I will.

My mail is that they cannot get a clearance until the club is officially disbanded for the year

[b]"[u][b]All of you people must be getting your info from the same person.Seems like a pretty biased point of view. All of that is about to change suckers.Back to back Premiership Coach Chris Newman will bring much more than a bunch of parasites
.Here comes another premiership for the Cats and if Heather cant swallow her pride and be a part of it then more fool her. It's the Ovingham Football Club, not the Heather Sandford Football Club."

04PC, part of one of your quotes from a while back, I take it you have had a change of heart on the subject?
