I umpired a div 2res match last year on anzac day, two reasonable sides, i think both figured in finals. The one thing that i noticed that would be the biggest difference is pace, they were zip-zapping all over the field, quicker than anythign i umpired in div 5, 6, 7 that year.

The skills may be on a level playing field but the pace is what will set the difference, i would assume that a div 1res side would be as quick as a div 2res side.

yes jabber..the pace is the key..you have to remember..a lot of the div 1 res players would be fringe div 1 players..div 1 is a bloody good competition..what happens is clubs get insular to how good/bad they are going..you have to get out and smell the roses..the top teams in div 5 would handle BL and CLG in my opinion..so i dont see how BL could even contemplate beating a div 1 res team..unless the div 1 team was suitably struggling..the pace would cut up BL quickly..saying that, i havent seen BL in action yet but i have seen CLG, but from what i can gather BL are very strong and physical with some wise older heads who use their experience well, and CLG are faster but maybe not so bulky..perhaps a combination of the 2 teams may present a challenge for a struggling div 1 res team?

only oipinions though..just like a******s..everyone has one :)

I look at plympton at the moment, they've got 2 or 3 blokes at that high level of pace, but that div 2res side had 10 blokes at that level...

Sorry to hear that. Didn`t get to see the game on the weekend(darn work) not the way rosie`s have been playing in recent years. Will have to ask a few question`s, not the way we want to be seen out there in the general footy community. sorry again

Was a good game both teams fought back to take the lead in the last quarter with junior jake giving goal of the year a shake from the boundary in front of the Rosewater faithful to hit the lead once again. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: Impressive debut for young Motlop with a nice little 5 goal haul, looked good. Kells was great in defence. Big Rusty was impressive as well against some tall timber from WOS, they seem to have talls everywhere including the magoos! Good team effort!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

im glad it was scotty and not shaun who kicked it or else we would never hear the end of it

Correct,it zips around and I beleive the skills are a tad better aswell. The real difference is that you do not get as many big dominating key position players, but that is quickly substituted by the quicker movement of the footy. I had my eyes opened bigtime recently when I played elsewhere for a bit due to work and it may not seem to evident on the side lines, but when you get out there it's a different story....

Swervyn i totally agree m89 we had a meeting yesterday and it was known that it wasnt tollerated, we have tried to clean our act up over the last few years. The bloke involved new that he stuffed up and was very remorsefull. IF we make the finals, lets hope we put a better display if we meet again. Congratz to the WOS boys you were just too good on the day and fully deserve the win... Well done once again boys...

It is an opinion but 99% of people who know anything about the SAAFL will laugh at you for bringing it up. Pultney O.S would not beat a good D1r side and if you think you're a better outfit than them you are seriously kidding your self....

i think IMO that if a div 5 side or div 6 side with all players , no injuries and them same with the div 1 side, i think it might be a little lop sided result. even if it was a trial game were normally coaches like to play players in diff spots.

If there are people going around thinking a div 5 or div 6 side could complete with the likes of Goodwood saints, or salisbury north etc then they are dreaming. These div 1 teams could play SANFL reserves and not get a flogging.

but im just adding to the convo and i know ppl will comment on my opinion and tell me i dont know anything which i may not. Not going to come on here and say my former team plympton, or Pultney, or Brahma Lodge in Div 6 could match it with a Div 1 side because they wouldnt.

throwing around..none..well placed to a select few..then yeah..a bit, but nothing that fort knox has to worry about..the murphys dont leave much for anyone else LOL

well atm plympton would be faves at 25/10..smithies and bos equal on 4/1..dont think hv or will challenge yet but to early to know..cant see pulteney worrying anyone..rosies would have to improve with elizabeth to be in the finals

assuming kenilworth are in div 5..i think 20/1 is fair atm for the flag..but i know a few things about next year and our team that others dont yet

plympton 25/10
smithfield 4/1
bos 4/1
wos 12/1
rosewater 12/1
hope valley 15/1
elizabeth 15/1
kenilworth 20/1
ingle farm 25/1
pulteney 33/1
Here's your odds that you were talking about...
gee zedman wished i took some of that 33/1 on pulteney pre season
