SANFL Grand Final Entertainment - What do we need?

Postby Mr Fuller » Mon Sep 25, 2006 4:59 pm

I could rant about the eagles insipid performance but I'll change the topic. Lets face it - the days of SANFL crowds getting 35,000+ have long gone. Yes the eagles have a small supporter base but the amount of centrals supporters showing up to each GF each year has also diminished.

I would like nothing better to see 40,000 at the SANFL grand final and I will go regardless of my team in or not. But in previous years I have been appalled at the Grand final entertainment. Who has suggestions of what we can do? Here are some potential ones after thinking about this for all of 1 minute

1. Include a live local band or as good as we can get play at half time

2. Include a SANFL player 100m sprint at Half time and maybe also a relay

3. Have a supporter competition goal kicking competition.

4. Have a Crows/Power mini coaching clinic where those players where their SANFL guenseys and will only allow kids in SANFL guenseys on to participate

I am not sure what we could do before the game but there must be someone with suggestions. As it currently stands, the entertainment is woeful.

I know you have tried to steer away from this mr fuller, but I reckon the game itself has been a killer for the crowds.

Off-field entertainment has always been crap, need to get a high standard of footy to get the crowds in, IMHO.

Look, I think that the songs The Final Countdown and Simply The Best havvveee to be played. They're a must.

I also reckon large numbers of people bootscootin would also be brilliant. And I think they should be handing out small, cushy footballs to the crowd.

That's pre-match entertainment gold in my eyes.

Have Tim Evans & Craig Balme reenact their tango to the tune of Advance Australia Fair.

I agree. I've never seen the point in anything else other than the game. Just get on with it.
