Well then seems your club isnt "ticking all the boxes" like you claim as you put in your club newsletter and footy budget after you beat Ingle Farm.

All well and good to sit back and ramble crap on after you knock the bottom side who everyone is beating, but you gotta be able to do it against the front runners. Perhaps a little modesty against the lower teams and quit blowing your own trumpet, come back when you compete against the top sides then tell people your "ticking off all the boxes"

 Come on Phantom, its a club magazine for christ sake!

As for modesty, the 3 sides that have beaten the 2's this year in plympton, WOS and Pulteney are all great sides and we have 1-1 records this year against all three, so we have beaten the top sides, and they have beaten us.

As for ticking all the boxes, in some games this year we have, and not just against IF. Saturday the game was there for the taking and pulteney wanted it more, simple! thats footy, you win some and you lose some, and our boys will be looking to redeem against rosewater.

Maybe you phantom should try and read into things a little more than a wrap up of our games from a few blokes at our club trying to have a bit of fun and promote us a little.

I would have thought Hope Valley have ticked most boxes this year, depending on how high their expectations were. They've come up a Division, been more than competitive, would probably feel unlucky not to make the finals and have a Reserves team that are very good chance of taking out the Premiership.

I would put them in the same basket as Elizabeth and Rosewater in that they are probably just one or two gun recruits from being a big premiership threat.

And saying that isn't meant to take anything away from the Eagles or Rosies either. Like I said previously they are good teams, but I think Premiership teams usually display a certain dominence and consistency throughout the minor round which everyone apart from Pultney and Plympton hasn't really shown this year. It's still a very even division though and on their day most teams are capable of beating any other team.

D4 there is some good sides and that is where I'd say the standard may be matched up the high end of the ladder. Just the sheer pace they move the ball is far greater than the lower divisions which would expose big gaps. No shame however

you can't prove we wouldnt and i can't prove we could so dont see the point in going on about this..

Probably the only reference point I can think of that you might use to try and compare Div 6 to Div 1 is Adelaide Uni a few years back. They were in Div 1 and their C and D Grades were in Div 6. Uni's C Grade made it to a Div 6 Grand Final. Which if you followed that logic would mean Div 6 teams might be equal to a Div 1 C Grade. But then again their are Div 1 C Grades playing Div 7 and such so it's hard to compare. I don't think the general standard of footy changes from year to year in each Div too much so I think it's fair to compare Brahma Lodge to other Div 6 teams in the past. They certainly seem to be the best team in Div 6 this year but I don't think they've been flogging the other top sides like CLG and Hectorville which would make me think they're probably on a similar level to previous Div 6 leaders.

I probably should have written this on the Div 6 thread.

Oops.

Sorry Footy Chick

Tips for this week

Pultney over BOS, 3 goals. Should be cracker of a game and a real measuring stick for BOS.
WOS over Kenilworth, 10 goals.
Plympton over Ingle Farm, 20 goals.
Hope Valley over Rosewater, 3 goals. Rosewater should enter this with a lot of confidence, especially at home, however Hope Valley are overdue for a decent win and will need it to get their season back on track.
Elizabeth over Smithfield, 6 goals. The Eagles too strong at home.

As for WOS a week is a long time in footy and it showed, back among the pack again but looking forward to the next 6 weeks, getting a few guys back and see if we can sneak in.

Was a good game both teams fought back to take the lead in the last quarter with junior jake giving goal of the year a shake from the boundary in front of the Rosewater faithful to hit the lead once again. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: Impressive debut for young Motlop with a nice little 5 goal haul, looked good. Kells was great in defence. Big Rusty was impressive as well against some tall timber from WOS, they seem to have talls everywhere including the magoos! Good team effort!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

im glad it was scotty and not shaun who kicked it or else we would never hear the end of it

Good to see your in good form heading into this weekend kellsy. Look forward to venturing west this weekend for some good games of footy. Hang round after for a beer?

well atm plympton would be faves at 25/10..smithies and bos equal on 4/1..dont think hv or will challenge yet but to early to know..cant see pulteney worrying anyone..rosies would have to improve with elizabeth to be in the finals

assuming kenilworth are in div 5..i think 20/1 is fair atm for the flag..but i know a few things about next year and our team that others dont yet

plympton 25/10
smithfield 4/1
bos 4/1
wos 12/1
rosewater 12/1
hope valley 15/1
elizabeth 15/1
kenilworth 20/1
ingle farm 25/1
pulteney 33/1

Here's your odds that you were talking about...

gee zedman wished i took some of that 33/1 on pulteney pre season

no guts no glory i guess TT :)

they have certainly come a long way from there at 33/1..things changed pretty damn quick eh ? :)

FYI - Player who Played in the Div 6 GF in 2007 played in Div 1 Res late last season and will tell you that not much of a Chance that a Div 6 team would Win. Granted some good players in Div 6 team, but the players making up the Numbers in a Div 6 team and the Players making up the Numbers in a Div 1 Res team are Worlds Apart.

Should be a cracker of a match at Argana Park this week, the winner would have to still be granted a slim chance where the loser would have to concede for the year.
Can the Eagles stop Meatbags who has been in stellar form, he owned the 3rd quarter last week, 3 goals and 18 possessions.

Suprised that hasn't been more (or any) discussion about a Thomas Motlop lining up for Rosewater on Saturday. Was this why their teams weren't posted on the SAAFL site until late, to hide this player? He legged 5 goals for Rosies on the weekend and demonstrated a fair bit of class.

Could be a very important factor in determining Rosie's spot on the ladder at end of the minor round, depending how long he's around for?

yeh, he was quality against the mighty Dragons last weekend, it almost looked like he didnt really give a sh*t most of the time either (whether thats just how he comes across when he plays, who knows)... but He could quite easily win a few games for Rosewater in the remaining games this year off his own boot.. relatively quick also
