I agree Farbs and as you said it really did not affect the result on the day, i just feel that any side should ensure they have the correct support staff to get through the game. Our umpire was running late on the day and the guy field umpiring foir them had to do it alone, would not have been an issue if he was an actual umpire but he wasnt. I believe he came to the ground expecting a game and was told he was umpiring. Then got crabby when players disputed things he was missing or paying saying im doing my best here. I understand he may have been but i feel they should have supplied an offical registered umpire. They did not even have a pump to pump up thier ball before the game!

i'm not excusing anything here but its very hard to get support staff at uni - there's not necessarily the family connections prevalent at other clubs so just getting a younger sibling is not always possible. with it being c grade surely we can't be too precious about boundary umpires.
we've had problems with jumpers this year - as every year new players are getting their own jumpers through the saafl distributors which can sometimes take much longer than expected. those that have just joined or are filling in during holidays often don't have jumpers and usually expect there to be a few extras floating around.
if anybody knows the secret to organising field umpires please let me know - i'm sure i could make a monte throughout lower grades everywhere. :)
i know mine has just left to take a job elsewhere.

Please correct me if i'm wrong here, and if i am, then disregard,,,

If what i'm reading is correct, which is the swapping of jumpers during games, which means that potentially a player may wear more than one jumper during a game, then that is totally unnaceptable. You might as well not put numbers on the back of them!!!

I'm sure the rules for such an event would be the loss of winning points or match scoring points at least. It canot be that hard to ensure that 25 jumpers are at the ground and that every player is accountable for a jumper.

Put it this way, if it is too hard for that to occur, then you deserve to lose your points. The rest of us do it, and we manage...

I am not getting precious over boundary umpires necessarily but i do believe you should have a registered field umpire. The guy who did the job did the best he could not blaming him at all. I understand that you guys have many teams and find it difficult to find support staff so the simple answer would be if you cant have what is needed to play on the day you should not have a side. This includes, field, boundary and goal umpires. Im deffinately bitter on the subject however due to comments made by one of your players to ours which im hoping something is being done about because it simply should not happen.

I did not notice the swapping of guernseys in our game to be honest i dont believe you had enough players to worry about it to be honest.

Yep, thats what I was getting at Jabber. I understand the difficulties in getting support staff - 2 weeks ago, i was runner, team manager, and coaching cause our coach had to play...but the swapping of the jumpers thing, surely that is well beyond the rules...like i said what if there is a report......Field umpire at tribunal "Ah no, it was actually number 126 from the first half, not 126 from the second half"!!
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

If a player on the bench has to run the boundary in the lower grades, and i mean REAL lower grades, then thats ok, but there is still no reason why the jumper should come off, last time i checked white (or orange) shirts slip niceley over footy jumpers most of the time (there are exceptions to the rule with regards to the girth of the football jumper, and player inside it, but those rather 'curvy' lads rarely put thier hands up for extra running when they could be sitting on the pine having a rest!!)

Clubs should be in charge of any personal jumper purchases, and their numbers, and always have the right number of jumpers in the kit anyway just in case.

Jumper swapping: Jabber says No!
