I am extremely concerned that in the photo, behind your left shoulder is an orange glow. Can it be an alien from another planet about to land at Cane Reserve with an "open cheque" for the club, or the relection from Jimmy's face after a night on the red wine? Happy birthday old fella!

Just a quick update on our current status.

after Saturdays match at home V Flinders Uni we have paid the SAAFL $800 which leaves our debt at $1394.00.
thanks to the Crabbies for comin in and havin a beer, it was much appreciated, they even sold our raffle tickets for us! champions!!!

so with 4 weeks to go it looks like we are gonna get there. our only issue now is that out of those 4 weeks we only have 1 home match in R17, so cash isn't going to be as easy to come by.

i would ask that anyone that has made a pledge to help us out and fulfill it, and if there is anyone else with a generous streak in them to dig in a put up a couple of dollars, i know it shouldn't be done just for recognition but we will be recognising anyone that contributes in any way shape or form as without them we would be in big trouble!

as you can see we have been making a concerted effort to get back to even but we still need some assistance! join us in helping to keep our club alive!

As a club of over 100 years worth of players has anything done to try and get these guys back to the club?? You'd have 100's of past players floating around that wouldnt have fallen off the perch yet! They would have to play a big part in keeping you guys on the field next year

that is something we have tried, a few of the ex players have come in but honestly not a heck of a lot! hopefully the messenger article will bring somepeople out of the woodwork!

we'll see, it'll either bring them out or scare them away!!! the ferocious looking machine on the cover is enough to scare anyone away!!!

One of the problems with this is simply that the club has lost most of their past records somehow and contact details are hard to find. Everyone is trying their hardest but help is needed to track people down, so if anyone knows of a past player etc, please let them know what's happening.

Update on the situation;

Prospect Council wasn't all that keen to assist in any way, it appears they have a soccer club that wants to take over the lease so Ovingham Football Club has been given 4 weeks to get everything in place to function properly with a solid committee in place and all debts cleared.
If we can get through the next four weeks, there's 6 months to work towards next season and ensure the club survives.

Noone at the meeting last night (a very disappointing number turned up) will allow this to happen but we still need some outside assistance, so if you can help in anyway, please let us know. We still have the offer of advertising in the Amateur budget, a full page that can be yours for $750.00 + GST for the rest of the season, a full page advert waiting for your company to take up this offer.

It doesn't matter what day, they are ready to "take over" the place, "lock, stock & barrel!
And the council is just sitting in the wings waiting for Ovies to fall over so they can then act.
Not a terribly helpful lot at Prospect Council, you would think they would try to assist the 100+ year old club but it's certainly nothing like that. It appears they would love them to collapse but we've got other ideas just to bugger up their plans.

So then why doesnt ovingham speak directly with this soccer club and see if you guys can sort something out that could be mutually benificial?? Just a thought...

If its Sunday Soccer it could work for all, plus it could bring more players to your club.

Marion council were the same when we were nearly broke, they were almost out on the oval working out how they'd subdivide the blocks!

That information the council has locked away in their strong room, not for publication.
