Congrats to Novosel who broke B.Horsell's long standing record today to become the clubs all time leading goalkicker!

No need to congratulate me mate, just about played my worst game ever, however, well done to the rest of the lads who got us over the line in a shootout. The game had so many momentum changes I lost count and Angle Vale were really hungry for the win and threw everything at us. They played really well, we just managed to control the end of the game and put it beyond their reach with a few consecutive goals. Phew, I was very happy to hear the siren end, no more red wine with five bowls of pasta for me on a Friday night

Well done to the North Pines lads, hope it was a good night of celebrations. And Mal, a lazy 6 goals, top stuff.

I may be biased but can honestly say our club umpire is exceptional...has been sounded out by the saafl quite a few times to join their ranks but has declined...held in very high regard by Barry Oates.

Geez - just cause Barry Oates holds him in high regards does not mean a thing.
No offense Riddler, but that could be worse knowing Oates rates him. Probably means hes a shocker

Most of the club umpires do a fairly reasonable job. There's only one or two that are questionable.

 fair call but being honest he is very good.....SHOC umpire yesterday was a lot better than what has been reported about him, couple times you could see he deliberately didn't pay something but our guy was onto him and took charge and overruled him and called what he didn't.

We had a Div 1R ump for the 1st time yesterday who came from the Goodies v SHOC game down the road, he was awesome..best by far we've had this year, funny thing was the other ump we had a couple weeks ago and he was ordinary but umpiring with the higher grade bloke yesterday his standard went up also and was very good.

4/5 for me. North Pines turned around their performance by 100% on the previous week and cost me 5 winners.

An unusual warm winters day greated the St.Pauls players, as they headed down Sacred Heart College for a Top 5 battle against SHOC. There was drama before the match began as St.Pauls A graders were left jumperless by the man responsible for bringing it's guernseys. No names will be given, but will give you all a clue in that his surname rhymes with Fiddle. With a long drive to retrieve the jumpers in such little time, the B grade and spare jumpers would have to be worn by it's A grade team. With everyone wearing an alternative number for the one week, a fight broke out in the Saints changerooms as the players all fought over the Number 69 jumper. Order had to be restored as the majority of it's players had to wear the smelly B grade jumpers. With all the comotion beforehand, it was a great surprise that the Saints got off to flyer kicking 7 goals in the first quater and if it wasn't for bad kicking could have iced the match by the first break. SHOC fought back sparingly in the 2nd, but leading SAAFL goal kicker Ivan Novosel was on fire kicking 7 goals before the long break before injury restricted the dynamic forward. Saints Ruckman Wil Howie and Shane Swift were winning the hit outs to an affect where Lachlan Kennett and Derek O'Gorman were having a major influence. With a healthy lead at the long break it looked like another big win for the Saints, before SHOC fought back hard in the 3rd term with it's ruckman Michael Quirke and forward Sam Rossi who finished with 4 majors having an impact on the match. Bridging the gap back to 6 goals was as close as SHOC got with Saints forwards Travis Smits (4 goals) and Chris Lippapis (2 goals) running riot and sealing a 60 point win. St.Pauls will face Adelaide Uni this week as it's club celebrates it's Past Players reunion and should pick up another victory, while SHOC need a couple of wins to cement itself in the the major round.

Footnote: There has been a lot of debate on umpires in the Div 7 forum which is understandable considering Div 7 usually receives the dregs of the Barrel that filters down from Div 1, so unfortunatly the standard of umpiring will never be high. However the game at Sacred Heart on Saturday was held up for 15 mins as an umpire who may well have come from a Div 1 Reserves Match to officiate. The wait was well worth it, as St.Pauls witnessed it's best official umpiring display of the season. Perhaps Div 7 could receive a few more of these Super Fit Div 1 Reserve Umpires who are willing to do 2 games? As for Club umpires, St.Pauls are lucky to have arguably the best in Div 7. 'PK' played the game as a young bloke before injury saw him take a break, has a great understanding of the game, is fit and I have no doubt that if he was on the SAAFL umpiring panel, he would be a Div 1 umpire. Anyone who thinks he can't umpire should perhaps grab a whistle themselves.

No question on his abilities, but have seen him tagged out of a game and play ordinary on several occasions and still get the votes from Rule Book.

SHOC, Flinders Uni and Angle Vale all once again failed to capitalise and take a firm hold on 5th spot...heats up again this week....Flinders v AV in round 18 will be a beauty I reckon.

A good game of footy on Saturday down at Crab park, flinders had enogh opportunties with bad conversion in the last quarter kicking 3 9, and a loss of concertration in the 3rd for 10 mins where the raggies put on 5 goals. But good to see again that we were competeive with another top side and give them a run. A great sign of respect from them as we Carried Dags of for his 150th as built a wall clapping him off. The Saafl umpires were ordinary but consistant so all in all a good game of footy, the boys can't wait for another good game aganist the north pines lads this week.

Yeah Darzanos will be a big loss did shoulder vs Athelstone trying to take mark of the year
Dutchy on the other hand first game for a few months if he got through that he would of gone straight into the B's at least
We also had Erlich,Jennings myself out from the week before but should all be back for this week.Including our West Coaet boys that have been back home during uni holidays.

Was a good day on Saturday down at Shark Park with most people that were there puting their hands in their walletts to help out Ovies and I didnt get rejected by many people at all from Henley. Good luck NG and Plugger on getting the club back on its feet and good luck for the rest of the year.
