No need to snipe people on here guys, harve's is a quality player and a decent bloke as well, there's no need for any bad remarks towards himself or the CLGFC.

I dont believe that you will, but what would the feeling be towards him coaching again if you went out in straight sets like CLG?

Sounds like great news for BL, The bloke definately has got you guys up and running this year. But from what I heard from several players they had little remarks about him. Not too sure if theres any tension between him and the players at all?? Comments to the effect of - he yells and abuses everyone when he gets frustrated and then that frustration goes away as soon as he kicks a goal. The word selfish was also used. I don't know too much about him so I can't comment. But it was just what i heard. Anyone tell anymore?? Good luck to you guys for the rest of the year, definately the team to beat.

That happened at Plympton in the early 90's i reckon (i was only about 12 but i think this is how it went), we had P Meurett and the board gave him a verbal agreement during the season that he would be coaching the next year, they even announced it, but then the new board for the next season voted not to keep him after some dodgey games at the end of the season and decided that he wasn't worth the $$ (i think, blacknred may be able to confirm)

No disrespect to him, seems like a good coach and demands the respect of the players. But your correct, i've seen it first hand when he has played against us (and where near the bottom of the ladder), can only imagine what he's like when the going gets tough and there's 4 points in the balance. A fair bit of yelling, and it does seem to stop after he slots one through. Some players respond well to that kind of coaching, others dont. Seems like most of BL respond well to it.

carey wrote:just on that final spot in the 5 being 5th of course it looks a 3 horse race between paralowie west croydon and lockleys with all sides being locked on 7 wins lockleys with 57.7% west croydon with 54.5% and paralowie with 49.9% with an interseting run home

lockleys have west croydon away, CLG at home and mitchell park home you'd probably think win 2 of these games and they are in.

west croydon have lockleys at home, B/L away and CLG at home very tough run home probably cant make it the losses against m.park and paralowie are going to cost them there season.

paralowie glenunga home C/U at home heccies away probably the best run home of the sides it may come down to percentage so playing glenunga and C/U may help dont deserve to play finals but who knows they may just make it.

what are peoples thoughts now on who will finish 5th?

the stupid thing is dee man should the switched on m/park rock up and put all the aggression towards the ball they can beat anyone no doubt about that so if you'd like to help us out i'd be more than happy with that who do you think will get that 5th spot?

well both times we played them they were very close games and payney probabley got his colours lowered both times yet there was no yelling or carrying on he made moves and did what had to be done to get the win on the board it sounds like to me that if any players are sooking it would be the players that in the past dont train just rock up and play A grade well payney has changed that and is changing there culture which isnt easy to do and the club as a hole are probabley better off with out them

So is this guy a playing coach then?? if so then my opinion changes dramatically...

The day of the playing coach is well and truly dead, how on earth can a playing coach see EVERYTHING when he is worrying about getting a kick and would only have a birds eye view of what's happening 30m in front of him.

Playing coaches had their time, back when the game was slower, but now when 1 crutial move could almost cost you a game in the space of 3 minutes then surely moving forward, and upward as im sure BL would be keen to do, then the coach has to hang up the boots and coach from the bunker.

Some clubs still believe it works, and trust the runner or assistant to make the important moves during the quarters, well if thats the case give the job to the bloody runner or assistant, and let the coach just olay or captain!

Thank god Plympton has not appointed another playing coach... We've had our fair share!!

i think that a coach is never going to keep everyone happy with selection etc. the question is how much tension, if any there is. i doubt any of the BL boys on here will come out and say if there is a problem (and i dont think any person would come out and say there is a problem with their coach). possibly payney might retire at the end of the year and just remain coach?? seeing him coach from the field was stressful just watching
