What an idiot. Every call he made was soft! He was umpiring like it was under 10's.

2. Arrange for members of the Football Operations Committee to be present at these games to see first hand and report outlandish behaviour.

I could have wished for nothing more than for league officials to be present at this particular game so that he could have been shown up for the grandstanding, attention seeker that he is.

Have to agree about the SHOCs umpire. In about 230 odd games of amatuer league football I have never seen an umpire as bad as that particular one. Sacred Heart should be absolutely embarrased to have such a blatant cheat associated with them.

Fair enough to get something done you almost need all other sides in the div in agreeance and to make a complaint. Then there is half a chance of action. On a side note if no complaint had been made there is no point bringing it up here. Being 3 games to go I doubt aything could happen now.

I'm not sure what the league response to ours and others' complaints will be. What is clear from this letter though, is that this umpire has a severe case of messianic complex.

In Div 7 this year there are some great footballers running around, there has been some great footy played, and there has been some great umpiring. Leon Dolling, not only do you not know the rules of the game (let alone league protocol), but you have no idea about this division.

Hi guys

Just letting you know I've had a complaint in saying that the writer of the letter has not given permission for it to be posted and therefore I've had to take it down.

As most of you are aware of what's in it - I have no qualms with futher SENSIBLE discussion.

Thanks

Haven't seen this guy umpire but to make a broad statement that Div 7 players are of a poor standard is stupid as I know for sure and have seen many that could certainly play substantially higher.

I thought the comment that we are all 'bikie-like thugs' was a pearler =))

I think SHOC have probably copped a bit of unneccessary criticism over this, they are probably slightly under-resourced (as far as volunteering goes) in their C and D Grade and would have jumped at the offer of having a regular club umpire (as the rest of us clubs would have done as well). They could never have predicted he would turn out like this.

It must be said that the SHOC players have been great to play against, they have been very humble and played in great spirit, and I have no doubt that many of them would probably be embarrassed by the actions of this umpire.

Why would League do anything about the Umpire and Umpiring. They listen to stuff all about any other complaint we have

Well all the games ive been invovled in the only games that get outta hand and end in brawls are because umpires like SHOCs loose total control of the game by making bias decisions. We welcome him in 2 weeks time to Nth (Spiderland) Pines and we will try and get some bikies in our team to keep him happy.

Enjoy your time in the Northern Suburbs :-)

Feel a bit sorry for SHOC as I suspect they would be mightily embarrassed by the crazy letter from "their " umpire (???) Not sure what they think about the slur (and all other Div 7 teams ) about the standard of Div 7 players etc. Bikies ??? where did he get that from and what has it got to do with it anyhow! About the only thing I agreed with in the letter was that I too wished members of the League were at the game against Houghton to witness his totally biased umpiring.

His comments about the Houghton umpire were totally unwarranted and disgraceful. Why he would bring him into it is beyond me. At least SHOC players had no reason to feel aggrieved at blatant send offs.
It was also a slur on all umpires in Div 7 for their lack of send offs, control etc - thankfully I haven't seen petty send offs for minor issues like he blatantly chose to do against one Houghton player. I agree umpiring can be tough but as long as you are fair to both sides it covers a lot of sins.

Disband Div 7 ? That's another absolute gem. Fantastic lateral thinking in that brainwave.

I look forward to reading a spirited defence (but not holding my breath) for what he has obviously brought on himself. (not too mention his irrational letter)

disband div 7 !!?!!
the div 7 games have all been played in good spirit this year. i can think of only a couple of send offs in our games, and there has been barely a hint of any melees, fights etc - far less than previous years.
i don't think the standard of umpiring this year has been better or worse than other years (i think we had league umpires for the game against the team in question so can't comment on that one). while there are definitely some quality players throughout the entire div 7 comp, the players generally make more mistakes than the umpires in a game.
let's get back to the footy - who's going to win this week?

Looks like I missed interesting letter, sounds like just confirms what we saw running around on ground he;s nutcase. lotsa great players in div7 all love footy probably more than the div 1 guys. 3 exciting wekks coming up. Crab boys need 4 qrts this week, dont leave it with the oranges at the half.
Nothing is easier.

Jamie Lambert has played the last 3 or 4 games in the B grade and has improved in every game. We knew he could play as we also knew him from playing junior footy at the club. Im sure he will get a crack in the A grade soon enough just shaking the cobwebs of and getting use to playing senior footy as I dont think he has before. Was easily the best in the B grade last week.
David Kim injured his thumb a while ago and has not been able to shake it. Came out to training the other week and could not mark the ball at all. Had a massive influence of the back flank in our better games in the middle of the year.

Would be funny to see if they stay around for a few years who would come back, Craig Street playing still? I know I would apriciate a match with those lads once again!

I hope they stick around for a few years very handy players. Craig Street has had work commitments over the past couple of weeks but hopefully will be back this week.
