In amongst the sprints at Shepparton this morning are a couple of 650m races.

Race 6

1 - Has claims, may fade late.
2 - A previous Rooburger blackbooker that made us some money early on IIRC, hasn't been running well lately, gave up last run after getting crunched by traffic. Pass.
3 - Another Rooburger blackbooker, has better claims than the 2 and may sneak into a place at good odds.
4 - Should lead, but will get done by others flying home. Place hope.
5 - Missed the start and was dead last halfway through his last race (699m), but worked it's way along the rail, met some traffic, squeezed through and came in a commendable third. A good chance of notching up a maiden win.
6 - Had a beautiful run at Geelong recently, sat steady behind the leader most of the way and powered home for the win. Will be a short-priced favourite.
7 - A couple of recent seconds at this track and distance. Can win.
8 - Won four weeks ago at this track and distance, not a blistering time, but has claims.

I like 5,6,7,8. Might box up an exacta with the fave [5,6,7] or leave the fave out [5,7,8].

Result: 1,7,6 - The 1 did fade, but got out eight lengths in front, which was enough in the end, won by two lengths. Will be keeping an eye on the 7, will break through for a win soon.

Race 8

1 - Can run on into the placings.
2 - No.
3 - I don't think he is up to this distance.
4 - Has place claims, won't want to get too far back though.
5 - No.
6 - Led from start to finish in recent 699m at Crannie and smashed them. Short-priced fave.
7 - Can lob second or third and power home.
8 - Hmmm, no.

I like 6,7 from 1,4.

Result: 1,5,2 - F****** disaster
