Surely better teams would want to pit against better teams twice, moreso than beating up on a Lobethal or Bridgewater.
Bye is not an issue, if anything helps out lower teams.

Torrens Valley would beat Bridgy by 12 goals and Loby by 25 as a conservative estimate.

I attended the Cally v Echunga circus yesterday. The highlight of the day was the Senior Colts game; very high standard. Meadows have a talented crop of youngsters who look well-coached, and the Grand Final should be a real cracker. That game was well worth the $7.

As for the main event......well, what can be said? SAFM said the big winner was Country Football, but to many that doesn't quite ring true. It seemed that the large majority of the good-sized crowd were there for curiosity and a chuckle. A 420 point deficit is hardly a good advertisement for the standard in HFL? My mate is a local and said only a handful of Callington supporters were there, and I certainly didn't recognize any ex-players or old die-hards in the crowd apart from one support staff. Apparently few in the sleepy town even knew it was on.

I wish we hadn't attended. While city dwellers and radio stations might have thought is was great fun, many of us who pulled the boots on in Callington's glory days felt nothing but sadness to see a once-proud club reduced to this. The Eagles finished 4th in only their 4th year as a club in 1998 and were such a class act in those days.

A group of us crossed the oval at the end of the day. We noticed that along the 50 metre line at both ends, large letters said "goals this way" with arrows pointing to the big sticks. Good humour on the part of the very tolerant Echungans, but the words said it all.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

Disappointing that Callington felt they had to take on such a stunt. To be brutally frank, if they are really serious about attracting high quality players and staff there for 2010, I'm not sure that highlighting things so publicly for the state to see is the way to go about it. Surely it would have been better to consider going into recess for the remainder of the year some weeks back and looking toward a serious business plan for 2010. Not sure that rejecting the Mid Murray League approach is the right idea or not - going into a smaller competition may have helped them.

Well done to Echunga for what looked a big day financially at least. Was having a round of golf this morning and saw a number of hardy helpers cleaning up the ground, with plenty of people there to help out and all seeming to be enjoying themselves with good humour.

I said to my playing partners, watching that - that's how it used to be at Callington 10 years ago. How times change.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Are you trying to say that Callington may be stripped of their points for playing an unregistered player?!? That would dash their finals hopes!!

What are they going to do take their goal away, who cares really!!!!
Callington would have made some cash from SAFM (they hijacked the team - and were running the day basically, cut the B grades Quarters Short so they could put their show on). Hopfully Callington use this money on quality players that are going to stay around their club next year...

haha bevan, haha (he can stay there) although i think you will find that the club cops a fine so all their hard earned cash will be spent paying off a fine for a player hardly were paying for.

Are Gumeracha going to be able to put a side on the park Sunday, after three of their players were 'Red Carded' against the Brookers. And if Gumeracha think they're trying to throw their newfound 'Feral' image, they certainly went the wrong way about it on Saturday. Send them back to Eastern Park.

A disgusting display from the Feral element of the "Eastern Park Gumeracha Magpies" on Sat.
SuperCoach "Thommo" was more worried about sorting out the people in the crowd :-@ instead of just concentrating on trying to coach.
Must be a pity for the die hard Gummers.
At least 3 of the B-Graders might get to play another week though!

You seem to have no problem bagging gumeracha, look at what caused all of the red cards the same kersbrook player continued to throw elbows and punch the gumeracha players (while the umpires where watching) and get away with it the gumeracha players stick up for them selves and get punished what is kersbrook a protected side because of the names they have in their side i saw one gumeracha player get thrown to the ground and then chocked and the gumeracha player gets sent off how does that work

So you're saying everyone is picking on Gummeracha when they call them dirty, and I mean every team that has played against them. They're actually just standing up for themselves and getting a bad rap. I wonder who decided to start this conspiracy between the clubs. Very well organised.

  Hmmm, so every HFL Country Div club that has played Gumeracha this year has antagonised them to the point that most of them get sent off?? Any truth that the Gums Coach is banned from coaching in Amateur League? I wonder what for
