this argument comes up every year... i think it's about time that Henley and Athelstone pull their socks up and go up (if they both make it). i hate the, 'we might not get enough players' crap... they always say this and always end up playing in the last couple of weeks of finals...

we will wait wityh baited breathe as to the results of the next few weeks and reassess from there.

unless there is dramatic improvement then CU and Glenunga should be comin down. even with a few losses to the Ragies and Henley they would still be far more competitive then these two!

if henley make the gf, they will have to go up regardless of whether they wish to or not as it will then be their second year in the gf sequentially and saafl regulations will then kick in.
athelstone will have the choice to stay.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Henley will state uncertain on player retention, retirements etc and I predict will nominate 2 separate C grade sides in they play in 09 GF & Raggies will exercise right to stay down with 3rd & 4th in div 7 offered to go up or 9th & 10th in div 6 to stay up.

I would Imagine that houghton rested a few players before the first week of finals, am i right here Q?

Have to agree with Jugs that big Chadwick would have to close for a gurnsey after bagging another 10 goals this week.

NG best of luck in the off season with getting your club firing for 2010, although i cant see riddler resting Novasel in an must win match, although it might make our life a bit easier if he does, so one can only hope ;)

:-"

p.s Wilkinson has only played 7 or 8 games hasn't he? Would be tough for him to get a gig at FF with the likes of Naylor & Carroll having good years also.

I think Barnyard has already stated on here Henley will definately go up if they make the GF again but as keepitreal said perhaps they will suggest an all C grade comp next year.

I think Athelstone will exercise the right to stay down in div 7 should they be in the final 2 but this is just my opinion.

End of the day it's up to them and it's up to clubs like houghton, St Paul's & Flinders to eliminate this from happening.

Yeah i guess that is a fair argument, but the guy is Averaging the second most goals a game, thought possibly maybe a pocket or bench postion could be a possibility?

I cant see athelstone staying down though if they make it to the GF, i'm thinking they would love the oppurtunity in Div 6, but that s just my opinion on the issue.

I got told Raggies had meetings in the middle of last year about staying down if they made the GF in 08.

I didn't know that, well in that case i think they probably will exercise there right to saty down then, but like you said lets hope that they don't have to worry about it and houghton us or you guys can spoil there party because there no sure thing of making the GF

thinkin the same thing, please explain Q man!

I was wondering when this one would come up.

A couple of players didn't play, but it was mostly a full side. A lot of credit must go to the Uni boys who played really, really well and had us under the pump all day. As for us, we were just really flat after an intense few weeks and probably had our minds on finals rather than the game. The boys have had a good chuckle about it, but it's business time now and we are massively pumped to play in our first final since 2006.

Sorry for the confusion, the above rule only applies if a player goes up a grade to play finals, that team is knocked out, and then wishes to play in the lower grade team who are still in finals the week after.

The following rule is applied when seeking permits at the end of the minor round:

38.1 (d) The majority of matches in which the player has participated shall be in the team for
which they seek selection in the major round (Under 17/18 Divisions exempted).

What's wrong with Friday at the registry office, tell them to get their priorities right, what's the world coming to when things like this are booked during footy season, what about commitment to team mate, club and cause, these must come first, can't play footy for ever, must take opportunities when they are there. Premiership medals are forever statistics on successful marriages are poor, tell them to go with something that lasts ;)

My wife was pretty switched on when selecting a wedding date, she chose the October long weekend as she knew that I wouldn't have cricket or footy on that day.

As I have said in previous posts if we make the Grand Final again which I hope we do we have no choice in the matter we will be playing Div6 footy next year on the other hand if Athelstone make it through as well then they will have a choice to stay in Div7 or go up to Div6.If we can keep our team together that we had this year and maybe get a few more good playes filtering down the grades we maybe very competetive up there but we still have 4 weeks to go this year.Good luck to all teams in the finals.

Our home final has definately been confirmed now so Flinders and SHOC's D grade will have to make the trip north.
