C'mon guys, he's a very good player but it's not exactly like the Bays have a hole in defence at the minute.
We've just lost Carr for the finals this week and probably won't get Hingey back ...
Still, just the sight of Sammy in the twos might be enough to give Chambo the wobblies.

No panic here mate. I would be quite happy for Rudolph to come back into the Bays finals side after no pre-season and the majority of the minor round....To me that would unsettle a pretty stable backline and surely it's going to take more than a couple of runs in the reserves for him to get his touch back?

Plus what do they do with him AND Mills in the same backline?

Anyway's, as has been highlighted on more than one occasion this year, Chambers WILL kick goals on any full back IF given the proper delivery from the midfielders.

he MAY kick a couple... but all we can do is go on recent form... and Chambo's recent form v Glenelg fullbacks is laughable. Now he hasnt just got one thats got the wood on him...he's got 2.... surely any sturt supporters worst nightmare. No Chambo = No Sturt.

I thought the possibility to add to your list closed around July or something, if so, therefore he's been on their list all year and have paid him? I've no idea how all this works, anyone help out.

He was more than likely never cut from their list, maybe he was just absent and getting paid zero dollars.

Correct. He was never taken off the list despite being out for 3/4 of the season. Can't get paid for doing no work, and he'll play reserves so will get the standard reserves payment....

Famous last words. Look at our goal kickers list for this season. I think we had just a lazy 12 or 13 on the weekend...It doesn't bother me if they play 2 defenders on Chambers either. It can play straight into our hands if the midfield is on top.

p.s. It would be very nice to see Nick Wark score another major on Sunday.

The 'No Chambers = No Sturt' theory really tickles me I must admit. When people spruik it it suggests to me a general lack of understanding and knowledge.

As Purch has alluded too, we had numerous goal kickers on Saturday and have a good contribution all year to be fair. We had 43 shots at goal against West on Saturday and Chambers was responsible for just 11 of them for a return of 6.5.

MST, whilst I don't subscribe to the theory No Chambers = No Sturt, June 2006 at the Bay illustrates that, having seen the inside 50 stats for last week up until 3/4 time it is obvious who the primary target is. And given his record over the last 3 years why wouldn't he be the target of choice in the forward 50.

However see my comment in the Sturt v West review thread to see what Chambers thought of some of the delivery....

DEFENDER Sam Rudolph could be a shock inclusion in Glenelg’s Reserves side this weekend in a bid to qualify him for the SANFL finals.

Rudolph, who has missed the entire season while trekking through east Africa, trained with the Tigers on Monday night and is expected to play Reserves against Sturt on Sunday.

``With some encouragement he’ll play,’’ Glenelg football operations manager Ken Applegarth said today.

``He’s got to play three games to qualify for finals but we’ll see how he goes.

``The intention is for him to play the next three games in the Reserves and we’ll assess it from there.’’

The return of Rudolph, who was Glenelg’s best defender last season, could help the Tigers end their 23-year premiership drought.

Applegarth said Rudolph had returned with reasonable fitness but it was never his intention to play in 2009.

``He did a lot of trekking over there,’’ Applegarth said.

``It’s not his football ability, more his ability to stand up to the rigors of SANFL footy.

``But he didn’t come back expecting to play and he’s very much aware of that.

‘’He trained on Monday night with the intention of coming back into the system in 2010.

``But he’s got the backing of everyone at the club.’’

Rudolph’s return is not unlike the return of key position player Daniel Kirk last season.

Kirk returned to Brighton Rd late in the year after a kayaking stint in Queensland, and went on to play in Glenelg’s Grand Final loss to Central District.

This is too true, the only reason the SANFL has a finals series is to work out who will play Centrals in the Grand Final. It has become as predictable as the English Premier League. A win by Sturt this week will see Centrals take top spot and that is where they will stay.
